My blog posts always relate to the state that I am living as of the writing, so yeah, it´s freaking cold in here right now. My wardrobe`s number one staple? Coats, and more coats!
A runway patronizer that I am, where else would I turn for new style ideas in wearing coats than the … runway?! I`m currently loving the idea of getting cozy in a long coat. In fact, since giving birth to my son, I noticed that I am leaning more towards cozy and comfortable pieces while finding ways to still look chic.
These two style ideas from Mother of Pearl really got me because they just look comfortable and effortless, and yet stylish. The key? Pair a solid colored long coat with a bold printed combo, or a bold printed long coat with a solid monochromatic combo.

As we can see in here, a navy green coat with drop sleeves and under-the-knee hemlines is worn over a dark floral print pajama overall. But you what pulls everything together? It´s the black background of the floral print. It makes everything work harmoniously together.
So in choosing a solid long coat to wear with a printed mix, pay attention to how the color and the prints blend together.

If you´re going to invest on a printed/patterned coat, it´s practical to opt for colors that will stand the time. For example, this maroon/gray plaid coat will last because these color never go anywhere, they´re always on trend!
The key to letting your coat standout is to wear an outfit under it in color/s that are totally a contrast. So if your coat is of darker print, wear it with a white or tan combo.
Again, this long coat is worn over a white, comfortable mix.

Note: if you´re on the petite side, you can fake your length by wearing the roomy – drapey pants with platform high heels. But if you want to forego the heels, then opt for skinny pants.
So girls, what do you think of these two long coats and the style ideas? Will you try them this winter?
