Many fashion articles and blog posts feature tips on what to wear to weddings, but what about showers? I don’t know about you, but my year has been filled with baby and bridal showers. These events are opportunities to get all dressed up during the daytime. While dressing for a shower – whether baby or bridal – can be fun, there are some rules and guidelines. Here are my tips for creating a fabulous shower outfit.
Wear a Daytime Dress:
When picking a dress for a shower, think “tea party” style. Be sure to pick a dress that is not too casual, but also not too dressy. Avoid nighttime colors like black and red, and if you’re attending a bridal shower, avoid an all-white dress (that color is usually reserved exclusively for the bride). Showers are a perfect time to wear that girly dress you’ve had your eye on!
Wear a Pretty Skirt:
Showers are a great opportunity to mix and match blouses to your favorite feminine skirt. When attending baby showers, I like to wear some pink if the baby is a girl, blue if the baby is a boy, and yellow if it’s a surprise. Choose a skirt that’s more feminine and flirty versus sexy and get creative!
Wear Dressy Pants:
If the shower is a little more casual, wearing pants is appropriate as well. Avoid jeans and causal pants and go with print pants, tailored trousers or cropped pants. Pair your dressy pants with a blouse and some pretty accessories, and you are ready to shower the bride or mommy-to-be!
