If you´re wondering what shoes to wear with a tiered dress, check out these fourteen outfits for inspiration.
I have a love-hate relationship with tiered dresses. I love wearing tiered mini dresses; especially those with big tier ruffles that create almost a flare hem. On the other hand, I mostly avoid midi tiered dresses and I`m choosy when it comes to tiered maxi dresses.
My feelings towards tiered midi dresses stemmed from my experiences in my teenage years. Our family was extremely financially challenged at the time and we couldn´t afford to buy clothes. When I was around thirteen to fourteen, my peers were wearing fitted t-shirts, jeans and sneakers, while I wore my mom´s hand-me-down tiered midi dresses with sandals. Because I was very thin as a young girl, those dresses looked baggy on me.
My mom had a collection of many beautiful vintage dresses. On hand-sight, those dresses were a gem. But as a teenager, wearing my mom´s clothes made me the target of bullies.
But I loved wearing most of the dresses my mom gave me, except the tiered midi dress. It had a straight sillhouette with tiers at the bottom of the skirt. The short sleeves were puffed, decorated with a beautiful huge button on each side. Actually, thinking of that dress, I would have liked to wear it now with a pair of nude strap high heels. The only thing is, I would need to overcome the negative feelings and memories associated to that dress.
As I grew up and had the funds to explore my personal style, I realized that I actually love the tiered dresses with A-line flares. But I stick to either the mini or the maxi.
Now when it comes to wearing tiered dresses, it´s important to remember that the tiers of the dress really stand out. And choosing the right shoes to wear with the dress can complement it beauty.
