How to wear fringe this spring isn´t as easy as one, two, three. Except it is with my style tips.
Fringe is back for spring! Ahh, it feels so good to be able to say that. It really does feel like spring over here, sunny, bright and dreamy. Notwithstanding the still freezing temperature, having the warm bright sun on my skin is so refreshing.
Now is the time to evaluate all the spring trends we´ve seen on the runway and see which of those trends we can actually wear and practically apply to our every day wardrobe.
I’m not a biggest fan of fringe, if I’m to be honest. That´s because with fringes, it´s easy to look tacky or untidy. Not to mention long fringes can easily sweep on the ground and get dirty. However, I found that being strategic on how to wear fringe can actually be fun without having to deal with the nuances that I´ve mentioned above.
So take a step to the west this spring and summer with the Nevada trend. This fashion trend gives you a taste of how it is to spend a season in desert living. Think mixing white leather with pale denim and tweed hot pants on a really modern day.
Feel free to go bold with rhinestone denim, dramatic fringing, west-inspired patterns and some studs, if you must. But as for me, I lean more to the dramatic and romantic side of fringe.
Now to the style tips.
1. Sexy fringed boots
You can wear the fringe trend without making your outfit look like it´s all about the fringe. This can be easily achieved by adding a fringed scarf and/or a pair of fringed ankle boots.
Since this is a black and gray mix, you can control how the fringes will affect the look. Sometimes fringes can make an outfit look hard rock, yet at times it can soften the edginess of a look especially if there´s a good amount of leather in it.
Although the black ankle boots have long, dangling fringes, I find them elegant. It must be due to the style of the boots itself, and also because fringes look tidy.
2. How to wear fringe trend this spring: Maxi Cardigan
For a casual spring day, you can easily wear the fringe trend if you have a thick and long printed cardigan with fringes. This style of cardigan will look great on anything and you can easily throw it over whatever you decide to wear.
Depending on the weather, you can add leggings or tights, or just wear your legs bare. Finish the looks with some mid-shin buckled boots.
3. Fringe for evening party
If you´re wondering how to wear the fringe trend this spring, how about as a statement to a party outfit? Look for a mini or a knee-length dress with sequined, long tassel fringes all around. Keep everything in the look subtle to allow the sequined fringes to be the center of attention.
4. Fringed tasseled dress also for party
A similar dress to look #4, notice how changing the color of fringes also changes the look of the dress. This one has beige metallic drapes which quickly gave the dress a vintage flare.
Style your hair elegantly so that it jibes with your dress, and add a pair of super sexy strap high heels or some elegant leather dórsay pumps.
5. Sequin Fringe Mini Dress
It´s a super sexy dress. I won´t advice you to wear it as is because it will probably look too much on you. However, you can easily turn the dress from looking flirty to that of a lady by adding a knee-length coat or cardigan coat either in beige or in black.
I think that a pair of suede nude pumps will be perfect for the look.
6. Fringed midi skirt
A fringed midi skirt like this will add you width around the hips. That´s something to bear in mind. So if you have narrow hips, this skirt will give you an illusion of a wider hips. But if you have really wide hips, take heed.
When it comes to styling it, you can match it with a white quarter-sleeved sweater worn tucked in. To wear outdoor, add a fur coat.
The best thing about this skirt is you can use it as a transitional piece too. So how do you re-style it for summer? Simply add a strap camisole top.
7. How to wear fringe this spring: Fringed mini skirt
Depending on your height, this fringe mini skirt may or may not be too short for you. However, since we´re talking about it as a spring trend, and since it´s mostly too cold over here in spring, I would suggest wearing it with tights and tall boots. You can also wear it with thigh-high boots. Oh, that would be so sexy.
8. Respectable Fringe Skirt
There are presentable fringe skirts that don´t show off too much skin. We prefer midi length fringe skirts to wear with killer high heel shoes or sexy over-the-knee boots. Boho-chic clothing is always loose. Go against that, opt for something fitted. You´re not wearing this look to a hike, that´s the rule.
9. Fringe Kimono
Even if we try to deny it, each of us has our own inhibitions. Do fringes make you uneasy? Try wearing a fringe kimono on your next summer holiday trip – at the beach or at a relaxing bar. Notice how freeing it makes you feel.
10. Fringe Accessory
Spice up your weekend daywear with fringes. Add a fringe scarf to a simple white tee and boyfriend jeans for an interesting but comfortable outfit for running errands. If fringe jackets aren´t in your dictionary because they´re over the top, try a fringe bag to inject adventure to a shift dress.
11. Fringe Swimsuit
I know that around this time of the year many of you are already prepping for your next summer vacay. That´s why I covered the most popular swimsuits for this summer early.
Although fringe swimsuits weren´t featured on the catwalk this season, why not get creative and wear the fringe trend as you dip in that clear blue water? Be adventurous! Rock a fringe swimwear to the water.
Opting for a fringed swimsuit is sexy way to add covering to areas that you may want to hide. If it gives you additional confidence at the beach, why now?
12. Cropped Tassel Fringe Faux Suede Moto Jacket
I love leather mot jackets but this fringed suede moto jacket really made me decide to try suede jackets this spring. It´s so gorgeous with its cropped cut and tassel layering.
There are several other colors available for this jacket but I opted for this pink one because the biker look turns chic when paired with dark colors such as a black top and dark jeans, but it also quickly turns bohemian when paired with lightwashed jeans and light colored tops.
13. Fringe Sweater
This fringed sweater in Apricot adds subtle interest to a head-to-toe light colored casual look. Pair it with some lightwashed jeans, some brown suede ankle boots, and a beige fedora hat.
13. Sleeveless Crochet Long Tassels Fringe Vest
When I was youger I used to collect fringe and crocheted vests. I loved wearing them over a strapless top and fitted denim shorts, and I always finished the look with peep-toe ankle boots. Those were always sexy looks that I was known for. Of course, this fringed vest never goes out of style.
14. High Neck Fringe Cowgirl Long Sleeve Pullover Jacket
To be honest, this fringed jacket is just too much for me and I know I can´t pull it off. It will overwhelm my petite and slim figure. But if you have the height, the built, and the kick-a** personality, this might be something you´ll love.
15. Faux Leather Casual Jacket with Fringe
For all the biker ladies, this is a must-have. Of course you don´t need to literally ride the bike to rock the look, but if you´re into edgy spring looks, pair it with some leather trousers and leather lace-up boots.
16. Fringe Bodysuit
This is not a swimsuit but a bodysuit. It looks so fabulous when worn with a pair of high-waisted jeans. For this print, I would wear it with a pair of white jeans. But it´s also comes in other colors. So if you´d prefer wearing it with dark pants, go check out the other colors available.
17. Sexy Fringe Halter Waist Tie Back Sleeveless Romper Jumpsuit
It´s a jumpsuit with fringed. I picked mine in pink because I like wearing my fringes for a feminine look. So I will wear this fringed playsuit with some sexy strappy high heels either in silver or in black.
So these are my tips on how to wear fringe this spring and summer. I hope it they gave you ideas on wearing the fringe trend this warm seasons without looking like an outdated rock star or an overwhelmed I´ve-got-no-idea-how-to-wear-fringes wannabe.
Keep it subtle and under control.
