Every fall and winter we´re overwhelmed with many new trends of coats. Does that mean that we have to always buy new coats in order to make our wardrobe up to date? How about the outerwear that we acquired from last year? How do we spruce them up and give them a new look?
I went back to my piles of fashion magazines. I reviewed the many winter looks that were featured in the last three years. I came across this smart advice from In Style mag and I think, this is very much still applicable.
If you look on the runway, you´ll notice that adding a belt is the quickest way to make a coat look smart and neat. Here are three ways to do it.
The Matching
Donna Karan
Match it. Create a monochromatic look by coordinating the belt, bag, and coat. A shiny cut works especially well on petite frames.
The Complementary
Burburry Prorsum
Play complements. Consider other elements of your coat. A masculine buckle stands up to the bold buttons on a double-breasted style.

The Bold Statement
Louis Vuitton
Go for bold. An extra-wide size in a contrasting color makes the biggest statement. It´s perfect on taller types with long torsos.
When it comes to adding a belt, feel free to play around with a variety of widths and colors, in either the same shade as your coat or a different hue. Just keep in mind that belting works best on slim-fitting, below tha knee toppers.
What are your thoughts girls? How do you revive your last year´s winter coat?
