One of the ways I keep myself from succumbing to postpartum depression since becoming a new mom eight weeks ago is holding on to some of my old self – my personal style. But styling takes a whole new meaning when your days become a grind and all you do is keep your head above the water, you can hardly use the restroom if you need to nor take a shower as much as you want to. There´s no time to do your hair or your nails like before, pre-baby phase, but looking stylish every time you go out the house (and yes, you should go out the house!) is definitely possible. All you have to do is make it a goal, learn to quickly plan your outfit while prepping the diaper bag or folding the laundry.
My technique is to use one key piece to highlight in my outfit. It may be the skirt, the bag, the shoes, the jacket or the sunglasses. The rest in the look is muted simply because, there´s no more time to experiment. Since fall has now officially arrived in my side of the world, I`m keen on what pieces are great to use as highlights for my fall outfits. Of course these pieces work for all women – mom or no mom.
Table of Contents
1. Dark Print Dress
You can´t beat an of-the-moment dark floral print dress. Worn with nudes or blacks, you quickly look preppy when you go to parties.
2. Paneled Maxi Dress
BCBGeneration Lace Paneled Maxi Dress
A gorgeous evolution of maxi dress. This adds to the many ways you can rock ankle boots – with a maxi dress featuring transparent panels.
3. Track Jacket
Pam & Gela Embroidered Track Jacket
With skinnies, skirts or shorts, a track jacket would make for an awesome alternative to leather jackets.
4. Statement Skirt
During and after my pregnancy I became even more adept to skirts. This fall I´m definitely wearing even more skirts with layers. A pleated knee-length looks so promising with tall dress boots.
5. Plaid Lincoln Cape
A cape is a complete statement.
6. Dress Pump
STEVEN by Steve Madden Amya Dress Pump
I can throw on black everything and still look interesting in this dress shoe. Worn with tights or stockings for colder days, and with bare legs for warmer days, shoes like these make for fabulous transitional footwear.
And if you´re wondering, I stole the time to write this post while my baby sleeps in his daddy´s arms just because I so miss blogging. Now time to take that much-needed shower and hopefully I can still get a few minutes to create an outfit before my baby starts screaming. You guessed it, one highlight piece a time!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, darling.
