Although I love polished, very put-together outfits, there are days when I still feel like revisiting the styles I used to wear in, you know, early twenties. Fun, carefree and playful ensembles such as urban styles are great in times when you just wanna break the rules, or bend your elegant wardrobe and make rooms for just-for-the-street get-gos.
I stumbled on an online boutique for urban and surf clothing today and thought, why not create some look boards featuring urban styles? For a change, I went for it but not without bearing in mind that the looks should be age-friendly. That is, outfits that women who are way passed their early twenties can still wear.
1. Black and White with Muscle Tee
Muscle tee, that t-shirt with cut-out sleeves which men who are body building are fond of. This makes me think of my husband, it´s his uniform every time he hits the gym. But we women are known of stealing our men´s wardrobe, so that includes the muscle tee.
This summer, try one in black, preferably with interesting graphic or texts on it, to wear with a white short. You can go for white high waist denim shorts, or even dress shorts. Accessorize the look with high-top sneakers, a black backpack, and pull everything together with a black leather jacket.
2. Women´s Flight Pants
Did you ever covet those flight pants that urban men are notorious of wearing? Well, the good news is, flight pants are now available for women too. And they look even more gorgeous that you´d expect them to be. I like this black slim fit because its drop crotch aren´t too low. They´ll flatter your toned legs.
I like wearing it with a white racer back tank, worn tuck in to emphasize the high waist skinny leg look of the pants. For accessories, I´d keep it cool with white pumps, bold white sunglasses, and a banded black wrist watch.
3. Black Floral T-Shirt Dress
For a day strolling in the city, this is my urban look pick. I like the cozy treat of this t-shirt tunic which boosts a black floral print. Worn with peep-toe ankle boots, which are great to keep your toes cool in summer, some white sunnies and a fringe black bag, the result is comfy-gorg.
You may have noticed that all three looks are monochromatic. That´s due to my attempt to tone down the attitude with just a bit of elegance. Did I succeed? You be the judge! That said, urban looks are mostly monochromatic, anyway.
