The stars showed up in full force in this years’s MET Gala, sporting gorgeous dresses and skirts to show off their best looks. With celebrities like Beyonce and Selena Gomez, industry insiders such as Anna Wintour and models such as Jourdan Dunn and Joan Smalls, the event was definetly a stylish spectacle and this year, we take a look at the top trends the celebs were rocking of the ever-so-glamorous red carpet!
1. Crop Tops
Rihanna, Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway
We predicted that crop tops were going to be a big trend for Spring and these celebrities seem to think so as well! It seems that bearing a bit of your stomach is the way to go for the trend-setting stars. Rihanna looks her usual fierce self wearing a white crop top and skirt both by Stella McCartney. Emma Stone looks pretty in pink in a crop top and skirt by Thakoon and Anne Hathaway matched with the red carpet wearing Calvin Klein. Although the MET Gala is all about dressing up and wearing a glamorous dress, these celebs succeeded in interpreting the dress code to suit their style, and looked fabulous while doing it!
2. Blush Tones
Suki Waterhous, Dita Von Teese, Kendall Jenner
These stars played in safe in blush toned neutrals, while adorning themselves with jewels and sporting gorgeous make-up looks. Suke Waterhouse was in attendance with her handsome boyfriend Bradley Cooper, Suki sported a blush toned Burberry gown and showed it off in a signature ‘model’ pose! Dita Von Teese stayed true to herself and showed off her famous curves in this blush toned Zac Posen gown with red detailing. Kendall Jenner made her first ever appearance at the MET Gala and stunned in a custom Topshop gown.
3. Monochrome Dresses
Hailee Steinfeld, Lily Donaldson, Cara Delevigne
Although the ‘monochrome’ trend has come and gone, it still seems the be the trend of choice for some celebrities. Black and white look chic and simple but still glamorous. Hailee Steinfeld proves that age is no limit when it comes to looking chic and stylish. She wears a Prabal Gurung gown which compliments her figure and doesn’t make her look to old for her age. Lily Donaldson shows off her trim figure in a Burberry gown. Cara Delevigne was the talk of the night in this Stella McCartney black crop top and white pants. Opting for a top and pants instead of a dress, Cara shows off her svelte figure while still managing to look glamorous and elegant.
4. Florals
Emmy Rossum, Karolina Kurkova, Jessica Pare
Sticking with the classic ‘floral’ trend for Spring, these celebrities stunned in floral gowns with gorgeous up dos. Emmy Rossum wore a Carolina Herrera gown. She showed off bright colours and wore her hair up to show off her dress. Karolina Kurkova stunned in a gorgeous Marchesa gown and wore over $1 million worth of Harry Winston diamonds! Jessica Pare wore a Michael Kors gown and like Emmy Rossum, wore her hair up to show off her dress.
While the gorgeous gowns were the talk of the night, and the question “Who are you wearing?” surely would have been uttered multiple times, the celebrities wearing them were equally as stunning. With a star studded turn out and a designer filled red carpet, MET Gala 2014 was surely the place to be.
