After a month of cold, gloomy fall weather, the entire June, and in spite of it being summer, begrudgingly I chalked it up to a no-snow winter we had here in Germany. But now I´m smiling ear to ear because since yesterday, the sun is back and with it, a warm temperature. My cat and I spent yesterday´s afternoon in the garden. It´s already mid-summer but I´m yet to wear summer clothes. Hopefully the cold won´t come back, although it´s unlikely.
I´ve been short-listing my must-have summer essentials for weekends. The reason mainly is that, it´s during the weekend when my life is full of action. Throughout the week, I spend my days in the kitchen table, with my laptop, writing blog posts while enjoying the beautiful scenery of our back garden framed with a huge pine tree, through the windows. Every Friday afternoon, hubby goes home early from work so we could go out for a date. Saturdays are spent in church while Sundays are for going around or spending an afternoon in the park. That´s why I get to wear more outfits in the weekend.
This summer, my weekend must-haves embody comfort and chic, effortless style.

1. Easy Dresses
BCBGMAXAZRIA Dress, Olive & Oak Dress, BCBGMAXAZRIA Hi-Lo Hem, BCBGeneration Dress
Dresses definitely top the list but this time, I´m digging light, fluid pieces. Airy, breezy hi-low dresses made of polyester and chiffon are gaining popularity this season. Other styles of dresses to look for are drop-waist, hi-low hem, sleeveless, tiered, and pleated.
I´m also adoring this strappy pleated dress in flamingo color featuring crisscross back and square neckline. This frock will summer so much fun!
The best thing about these dresses is that, they can easily be styled up and down. Worn with strappy high heels, you´re ready for a date. Worn with flat thong sandals, you´re casual chic.

2. Soft Pants
Splendid Chambray, Patterson J. Kincaid Printed, Lilla P Women’s Drawstring, Jessica Simpson Leopard
Wearing skin tight trousers isn´t neat if the weather is warm. You need trousers that will let your skin breath. That´s how soft pants come in. they´re splendid, comfortable and easy to wear.
Your options include chic sweatpants, drawstring crop pants, and printed flowy pants with elastic waist and cuffs.
My favorite so far is this soft-woven track pant that´s made of rayon. It´s a gorgeous tailored harem pant with drawstring waist with tapered leg and zip-ankle detail.
But although soft pants are always comfy to wear, they only look stylish on petite women if worn with high heels.

3. Summer Tees
Ella Moss Top, Splendid Tee, Splendid Top, Rebecca Taylor Top
Fitted tank tops or tees aren’t my things in summer. That´s because I sweat a lot. I need breezy tops that will allow air to circulate around my body. Also, I want to feel comfortable. I find that with roomy tees, it´s easier to move. Worn with fitted short shorts or Bermuda shorts, they can be very flattering.
This season, trending summer tees include stripes, color block, and brights.
4. Shorts
Rebecca Taylor Short, Trina Turk Short, Dittos Vintage, VELVET Camo
In choosing shorts for summer you should have two types – the casual and the dressy shorts.
Casual shorts for casual weekend affairs such as barbecue parties or an afternoon at the park include denim, chambray, floral cottons, relaxed solid tones, and all over prints such as Aztec and tribal.
