Examining my wardrobe for fall and winter, I noticed that I have way more sweaters than jackets and coats. I know it´s no brainer, but sweaters are my most pick-me-up once the weather is cold. They´re there for layering and they make a single coat look fabulous in many ways.
I was scanning through the pages of Banana Republic, you know they have lots of styling tips available at their site, and I came across their “A week of warmth” feature. I learned that you can actually wear sweater seven days a week without looking redundant. Here are the looks that inspired me to wear sweater even more.
Sunday Outfit: Sweater Dress
Look casual yet chic in a sweater dress and vest for Sunday. A striped sweater dress is very trendy while a parka or a wool vest adds warmth at the top. Complete the look with flat riding boots for a casual yet polished ensemble.
Sweet Monday: Button Cowl Neck
Working at a very stressful environment made me hate Sunday nights because that means Monday is coming and it´s back to work. To beat the negative feeling, I work on my outfit. Make yourself feel good with what you´re wearing and that positive energy will channel to your work. For Monday, team a bright yellow sweater with a matching suit and skirt.
Tuesday Glam: Elbow-Sleeve Ribbed Cable
Tuesdays still used to be a struggle, just the day after Monday, so I keep maintaining that glam vibe with my work outfit. Dress up an elbow sleeve ribbed-cable sweater with a gorgeous scarf, a flattering skirt, and stunning riding boots.
Smart Wednesday: Tweed Jacket
I always wake up with renewed energy on Wednesdays because it means that Friday is so close. This time I usually opt for a little relax yet still smart-looking ensemble. A tweed jacket over a light blue non-ironed shirt, indigo pants, and leopard print pumps are enough to fill my wonderful day.
Thursday Look: Velvet Cardigan
Thursdays mean the toughest days are over, I deal with longer days earlier in the week, like seven lessons in a row, so I keep things easy for this day. A striped sweater with black skinny pants, black ankle boots, cute slim belt, and a striking rose-pink cardigan. I´m really looking forward for the next day.
TGIFriday: Merino V-Neck
Yay! It´s Friday! This used to be the best day in the week for me. Although the administration was kind enough to make Friday a free day, teachers could actually go to work wearing jeans, I never wore jeans to my class, unless it´s sem-break party time. Instead, I´d opt for a cute girly look such as an orange sweater, a knee-length houndstooth skirt, chocolate ankle boots, and my most-adored animal print scarf.
Happy Saturday: Textured Sweater
I could sleep longer on Saturday, but ironically, my body clock wakes me up early, panicking, thinking I can´t be late to work because with just a minute late, my salary can be slashed. Oh, but no, it´s weekend. I´d settle back in bed for an hour more of sleep. And then I´d dress up for church. Yes, Saturday is the Sabbath that I keep and we wear dresses to church! But in the afternoon, I´d settle with this comfy white jeans, printed shirt, and soft long cardigan.
Now a full-time fashion blogger, I´m no longer traumatized by a stressful working environment but mind you, I survived it for four years and it was the job that paid me lots of money. It´s also the place which taught me to beat a bad day with a great outfit.
How would you wear sweaters to work? How would you style it for weekends? Which of the sweater looks above inspires you the most?
