Cape coat is incredibly flattering. It allows you to dress underneath it the way you want and layer as much as you need without squeezing you tightly together or making you look like a mess peanut butter, which could be the case with other coat types.
Cape coat gives you that styling freedom which no other coat could afford. There are haute ways to wear capes for women – measured, polished, with varied silhouettes – but when it comes to owning the street, nothing is more inspiring than pushing the edge. Now get your cape coat and update it with these three street outfit inspirations.
Color Pop Cape Coat
What an ultimate wower is Sophie´s colorpop cape coat! She´s Dutch stylish/writer living in Paris and she´s seen here wearing a gorgeous purple cape coat over a hot pink long sleeves teamed with rosette sandals. I tried but failed to find an equally fab purple cape coat so I went for this panel detail cape in yellow from Ted Baker. The concept is to create a vibrant colorblock so make sure to take two complementary colors. I added a purple long sleeve top and purple skirt to wear under the yellow cape. Pull everything together with some nude high heels.
Print Peek Under Cape Coat
Model Elena Perminova looked incredibly chic in a printed dress with matching printed tights worn under a nude cape coat. It´s difficult to recreate the look unless you have a ready set of matched print dress and tights. So what I did is to opt for a green printed jersey dress, long sleeves, and take the darkest shade of green as the color of the tights. Because the green tights aren´t cropped around the ankle, black ankle boots are perfect to complete this look. Otherwise, a strappy black sandal would work too.
Plaid Cape Coat
Her name is Anastasia and she wore a street outfit with cape coat that many fashionistas are gushing about. Her coat is a brown cape with refined plaid print. To mimic this look, I went for this Black/gray/white plaid cape coat from Mango to team with a pair of Calvin Klein boyfriend jeans. Anastasia finished the look with black smoking slippers with yellow tongue features, the tongue were perfect to add bright hue on the outfit. I couldn´t find the exact flats but I found this black smoking slipper with silver studs around the heels. A yellow clutch would subtly add color to this very neutral mix while a sailor hat would give a right amount of attitude.
