Who has no stripes in her closet? I know how much I adore the black and white stripe sweater dress that I have. I love layering it with leather jackets and wearing it with booties in spring. And just like every spring, stripes are back as a huge trend. The brighter and finer your lines are, the better. But worry not, for black and white stripes are still strong game-players, only team them with power shoes.
Bright Stripes
Midi Crepe Dress / Suo Stripe Dress / Stripe Fit and Flare Dress / Striped Body Con
From the runway we noticed that bright stripes took the front seat. From knee-length to long dresses, with horizontal, vertical or a mix of diagonal lines, the bolder it goes the trendier. These colored stripes I found speak the trend, and they´re beyond your reach. Whether you´re into the midi crepe dress for work, the fit-and-flare for cocktail events, or the body con for hanging out with the girls, fine stripes are calling your attention.
Fit-and-Flare Stripes
Structured Cocktail Dress/ Stripe Flare Dress / Cutout A-line / Long-Sleeve A-Line
The fit and flare silhouette isn´t going anywhere, so if you´re planning to invest on a fine stripe piece that you know will still be valid next year´s spring, a fit and flare stripe mono dress is a great pick. You can go mono from head to toe, or you can inject bright colors to the look through a colored handbag or pump.
On Occasion Stripes
Knit Striped Dress / Knit City Dress / Casual Dress / Maxi Dress
From casual daywear to vacation maxis or after-work get-together, stripes come in any shape and style yet always doable.
Quarter Sleeve Stripes
Block Stripe Dress / Slim Ponte Dress / Koryn Stripe Dress / Stripe 3/4 Sleeve Dress
Quarter sleeves are always elegant, that´s why I always recommend quarter sleeve dresses for work. But even for the street-friendly fine lines, if the sleeves are three quarters you look more elegant than casual.
Mix and Match Stripes
Sweater / Clutch/ Tee / Skirt / Sweater Dress / Bag / Pump
From the runway we saw that this spring´s fine lines are bright and colorful. However, if the stripes that you already have are black and white, the technique is mixing and matching them with bright fine lines. For example, team up a black and white stripe top with a colored stripe skirt, tuck in, or add a power stripe tote to a mono stripe dress.
What do you think of the fine line trend for spring? Are you ready to rework your stripes?
