While I adore all the colorful trends this season, I don´t have a huge budget to burn. Scanning all the latest glamor and listing all the spring and summer must-haves, I get choked by how much money I need to acquire the runway looks that I am dying for. But this doesn´t stop me. Why not recreate this season´s hottest looks for less?
So I came up with the alternatives, 3 spring fashion that are runway-inspired but in a more affordable price. With a little creativity, we can get as good looks as of the runway.
The Tangerine Tango
As fashion savvy, we all know that tangerine tango is a color for spring. Tangerine dresses, trousers, jackets, handbags and shoes were sprinkled in volume at the runway stage. This tangerine orange dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2012 RTW caught my attention in particular. It´s simple and demure, the color is its only statement. So not overdone!
To steal this spring fashion, I went for this belted sleeveless orange dress with a decorative draped shoulder strap from Mango. Pair it with black strap sandals, grab a black messenger bag and you´re done.
The Famous Yellow Dress
This rich yellow dress from Thakoon´s spring collection was made famous by Nicole Ritchie when she wore it with slim contrast belt and her signature python pumps. But if you want to get the runway version, accent it with a floral or bold printed jacket. Because there´s already lots of statement in this look, stick to simple but sexy strap heels.
The Coveted Florals
I love this floral dress from Peter Som spring 2012 RTW not only because its floral is upbeat and sexy with its long slit on the side, but it also features a black lace bib. The lacey bib gives the wearer an impression of having a longer neck and it tones down the bright florals a bit. I also like the colored/white accent slim belt.
To mimic this spring fashion, I opted for a much affordable yet glamorous floral dress from Dorothy Perkins which features a diagonal dip hem. Since it doesn´t have a bib detail, I added a stripe bib necklace from Forever21. I imagine how beautiful this outfit will look with a light-yellow clutch and towering black Oxford platform pumps.
So tell me girls, which of these runway-inspired spring looks for less do you love? Do you go for more affordable alternatives like me, or do you purchase runway looks as is?
I’m definitely loving tangerine!
