I couldn´t wait to round up my ultimate list for must-have fall dresses for work. I waited until it´s officially fall over here. The gloomy sky, chilly temperature and rainy days seemed like gave me the permission to go ahead, create a list of dresses that will make my girls comfortable + warm in the office while still looking seriously sophisticated.
This post is inspired by the round up list I did last summer, 28 Irresistible Bold + Bright Summer Dresses for Work.
So what are to expect from this list? Quarter to long sleeve dresses, fabulous prints to offset the warmness of dark hues, cute belts and wrap dresses, as well sleeveless for desk to date layering.
1. long sleeve sheath dresses
We can´t deny that shadow hues continues to be the go-to colors in fall and winter. But you don´t want to wear gloomy clothes when the sky is already gloomy.
Thankfully, there´s a better way! Look for sheath dresses with shadowed prints such as filagree morris, snake print, or jacquard texture. They bring prints to work in a very professional manner, never like hippie-boho kind of thing.
2. quarter sleeve sheath dresses
An alternative to long sleeve sheath dresses are quarter sleeves, seriously elegant. They´re your best options when it´s not too cold in the office. Keep it cool with color block edging, overt prints or dark laces.
3. desk to date belted sheath dresses
Tell me if you´re not in love with these beautiful dresses from Kasper. They have that figure flattering sheath silhouette, adorable belts, and sleeveless or cap sleeves that make it so easy to transition from a power office look to a romantic sweet girlfriend look.
Layer with a warm jacket if it’s cold at work, or wrap with this season´s cocoon coat when it´s freezing outdoor.
4. a hint of black
Black dresses remain unbeatable, of course. But that doesn´t mean you only got one single black look. There is a wide variation of black dresses for work—from printed dresses with black contrast panels, to color black side panels and solid color blocking, going black is never as creative as ever!
5. sweater dresses for work
And here comes my favorite, the sweater dresses! They are made to keep you warm without appearing bulky. We have fit and flare shapes, body con, and the classic sweater style shape.
If you´re into monochrome, take advantage of the black and white stripes (which also comes in a plethora of options). Or you can opt for the more cheerful bright color blocking. Wear the dresses with black tights and black pumps or pointed toe ankle boots.
6. fall´s shift dresses
Yesterday I chatted about the affordable shift dresses from Boohoo. Today I´m showing these three shift dresses for fall and winter that are work appropriate. All you need is layer them with black tights and complete with some black high heels.
7. Fall´s Wrap Dresses for Work
You will never go wrong with a wrap dress featuring gorgeous + sophisticated prints and quarter sleeves for work. You can go for the classic self-sash or the cascade wrap style. From water color to floral and lisboa print, you´ll surely have a hard time choosing which one to invest on.
8. gorgeous quarter sleeves
And then here comes the dresses with different styles and silhouettes but with a common denominator—the elegant quarter sleeves. Remember that this type of sleeve is the most elegant sleeve you can ever have. So it´s like hitting two birds. You keep your arms warm while you look totally sophisticated.
So which fall dress are you?
