Looking for relaxed yet sophisticated fall winter looks? These are some of my favorite relaxed yet stylish pieces from Tod´s Fall/Winter collection.
When I was in my late teens and early twenties in the Philippines, I wore tight jeans all the time. The styles of my jeans changed according to what was trending – from straight cuts to flares, even bell-bottoms – but regardless, I was often wearing jeans.
Then I moved to Bangkok when I was twenty-two. My two favorite jeans which were soft and stretchy were stolen after I washed and hanged them on the apartment`s rooftop. The weather and temperature in the city were too hot and too humid for my remaining thicker, non-stretchy jeans. So I wore only mostly shorts, mini skirts and mini dresses. I ended up living and working in Bangkok, Thailand, for 6 years but I never bought even a single pair of jeans throughout my stay there.
I left Thailand for Germany. I have since bought a few pair of skinny jeans but I wear them only in winter with my knee-high boots or my lace-up winter boots.
When it´s not too cold for jeans, what do I wear? Well, mostly clothing that are comfortable. Styles of clothes that allow me to move easily, and fabrics that are breathable. For years now, I`m into clothes that look chic but comfy.
That´s exactly what Tod´s Fall/Winter 2020 collection is about. It features trousers, jackets, coats, and shoes with relaxed fit, in colors that take you back to nature, and an overall less-is-more feel.
1. Relaxed yet sophisticated fall winter looks: Wool-blend blazer
What´s the easiest way to dress up a pair of gray cropped jeans? Try a wool-blend blazer and nipped it in the waist with a leather belt. A tailored silhouette with padded shoulders and wide notched lapels will dress you for business meetings, and down for running errands or even for dining out with your man.
Inject a hint of ’70s to the look with a sweater featuring geometric intarsia patterns.
2. Wide-leg corduroy pants
The same Tailored jacket can be worn with wide-leg corduroy pants if you´re tall. This is a really chic, comfy outfit that you can wear anywhere. It´s very versatile. Complete the look with a pair of leather brogues.
However, if you´re short, this may not be a flattering look for you. Wear the jacket instead with some skinny trousers, or pair the wide-leg pants with a fitted sweater worn tucked in.
3. Wide, wide leg pants
This is probably my most favorite look from the collection. I`m digging those pants. It´s a pair of high-rise wide-leg wool pants that you can wear to the office with either a fitted top, tucked in, or a relaxed buttong down, un-tucked, as seen in the picture. It´s fabulous.
4. Leather-trimmed gabardine coat
This leather-trimmed white coat comes with the same slim leather belt that we saw in the maroon blazer above in #1. It will cinch you waist and give you a flattering silhouette. You can wear it with anything but for a sleeker look, keep things light by sticking with faded, washed, pastel or non-colored pieces.
5. Relaxed yet sophisticated fall winter looks: A clean and simple touch
A simple way to keep things comfortable is wearing light colors. This is especially true in fall when things are often dark. Wearing light pieces will brighten up the room wherever you go. You can either start with ligt colored handbags and shoes, or invest on a great-looking beige coat.
6. An Everyday wool blazer
A sexy yet fierce outfit you can wear this fall is this black woold blazer by Tod´s. I love its navy-inspired style and excellent drape. Worn with a leather mini skirt and a pair of leather loafers, you have a look that´s not only comfortable but also sexy and fierce.
7. Leather-trimmed gabardine car coat

This is definitely a coat that you can wear with anything, anywhere. Thanks to its color, nude, and its leather trims on the collar and pockets, it has a look that is a nod to classic style. Throw it over a fabulous evening dress or a simple sweater and a pair of skinny jeans. Wherever you´ll take it, res assured that you´re in good company.
8. Relaxed yet sophisticated fall winter looks: Stylish flats

Who can resist the moccasins and the loafers? They´re made out of beautiful leopard print but their heels and soles are made for a a truly relaxing walk.
9. relaxed yet sophisticated fall winter looks: high waist culottes
A pair of high-rise culottes are great transitional piece from summer to early fall. You simply have to swap the flip-flops or sandals with some closed-toe shoes. However, you can also look for high-rise culottes that are really made for fall and winter. Obviously, they are made out of thicker fabric, and they often come in colors that are fall/winter appropriate.
Take a look at this black high-rise culotte from Tod´s FW 2021-22 collection. It can be worn with a sweater and leather ankle boots. This look can be worn literally anywhere including to work. But for a really comfy, casual look, simply swap the leather ankle boots with some warm sneakers.
10. Cropped high-neck puffer jacket
Pleats oftentimes fizzle once the weather turns cold. However, Tod has a way of creating something comfortable yet still trendy and cold-weather-appropriate. He created this leather pleated midi skirt. And how do you wear it in fall or winter?
Well, in fall, wear it with a cropped parka jacket and pair of leather loafers. In winter, layer it up with a longer parka coat and a pair of fitted tall boots.
11. Relaxed yet sophisticated fall winter looks: Ruffle-trimmed canvas coat
This is something I´d like to call comfy yet badass. Mixing a canvass coat with some cargo pants can quickly get boring. But not when your canvass coat is update with some ruffle trimmings and you complete the look with a pair of black lace-up leather boots.
12. Straight cotton corduroy pants
Corduroy may seem old school but for someone who´s stylish, you know exactly how to update a classic. Wear it with an elegant white long-sleeved top and some suede ankle boots.
13. Gommino suede ankle boots
By looking at this look you probably quickly noticed that this is a very fall look. It´s brown and white. Muted. Earthy. But hey, the colors might be muted but it´s all about the details.
Let´s start with the parka. It´s a hooded canvass parka. A mix of linen and cotton. It has na oversized fot with dropped shoulders. For colder days wear it with some bermuda shorts and suede lace-up ankle boots. But when it´s just cool and the sun is up, you can also wear it with some short-shorts and sneakers.
14. Relaxed yet sophisticated fall winter looks: Leather Ankle Boots
So this is how you wear blazer, Todd´s way. First you need a pair of really light washed high-rise straight cropped jeans. Then you need a pair of leather ankle boots with pointy toes. Then, whatever top you choose, layer over an oversized black blazer.
15. Suede combat boots
This look is actually easy to recreate. Simply put together an all-blue outfit with whatever you have in your closet, and then add a long, single-breasted vest. If you´ll get the vest that´s exactly in the picture above, you´ll have your vest in camel hair.
16. Long-sleeved cropped cotton shirt
You often tuck in your top when wearing high-waisted pants. But what Todd is showing in this look is that when you´re tired with tucking in, opt for the cropped shirt instead. Although it´s cropped, your mid-section will never get cold because it´s secured around the waist and is finished with a tie-front fastening.
When wearing palazzo in fall, remember to keep things neutral or all-beige.
