Relaxed-Fit and comfortable dresses are back on trend! Oh, thank goodness. I`m at a stage where nothing pleases me more than wearing comfortable dresses and yet feeling so chic.
Let´s take a step back a little bit here. Hmmm, when did I start wearing less too fitting clothes and more of comfy pieces? I guess when I got to my middle thirties, my taste changed. I`m no longer keen on showing off my figure. I opted to show off more of my style and personality while keeping things effortless and a joy to wear.
I now wear less skinny jeans (although I still love them and wear them on special occasion), and less figure fitting tops.
My new favorites are roomy dresses than I can cinched at the waist with a belt (if I choose to), fit and flare tunics and dresses, A-line silhouttes, and pleats.
In this blog post I`m going to examine some of the styles and silhouttes of dresses that are totally fabulous but also comfortable, effortless and with a relaxed-fit.
- Beige Leopard Print High Neck Front Slit Dress
This one is a midi dress that will skim your figure. It has three-quarter sleeves that are both elegant and perfect for cooler weather. You can wear it with high heels to wear to church, to a date, or a party, and you can easily swap the heels with trainers or boots for an off-duty look.
Because leopard print is a neutral, you have a wide array of options when it comes to accessorizing it. You can stick to black accessories such as for your bags and shoes, or you can opt for bold, vibrant accessories. In winter, add a a reall bright, solid colored shawl to keep things warm and to add a punch of color to the look.
2. Beige Long Sleeve Pleated Midi Dress
A very romantic and feminine dress, you are treated to a glorious softness of something close to silk, a fabulous set of pleats, a pair of puffy sleeves but not in an overly dramatic way, a sexy cut out at the back, and a girly cream color that´s adored with a dose of gold through its gold buttons. Wear the dress with a pair of gold stiletto heels for a Cinderalla look.
3. Beige Wrap A-line Dress
This wrap A-line dress is a winter must-have. Cozy, soft, luxurious and on-trend. The plaid print is on point for fall and winter, and since it´s a midi, it look great with lace-up ankle boots.
4. Black Closet Gold Pleated Skirt Dress
The fit-and-flare is the most trendy silhoutte ever. A fit-and-flare midi dress such as dress makes for a very classy and elegant evening dress. It gives you that princess-ish feel. Wear with high heels and enjoy the evening.
5. Grey Gathered Puff Sleeve Dress
A loose, gathered dress such as this may not flatter your figure, but if you style if with the accessories, it will look falthering. First, don´t wear it with a small bag because anything tiny will emphasize the looseness of your dress. Instead, add a structured or tote shoulder back. Then add a pair of sexy high heels, whether it´s an open-toe strap heels or a pair of pointed-toe high-heeled ankle boots.
6. Pleated Black Shirt Dress
A shirt dress is always comfortable. In this case, it´s a midi, which looks great with black ankle boots, and it´s a black polka dot which is always glamorous.
7. Pink Print Gathered Neck A-Line Dress
If you love animal print, then you will surely love this dress. It´s a new take on the wild print! Not your usual leopard, this is what the brand Closet London call the iconic „funky animal print“. It also has a midi length and long puff sleeves. Worn with some transparent high heels, the result is super chic.
8. Black Sweetheart Neck Shirt Dress
At first glance this shirt dress looks very simple. It´s a plain black dress and it seems like not much is going on. However, whatever is lacking in adornment is complemented by its sexy sweatheart neckline, puffy sleeves, side slits, and a figure-flattering A-line skirt. Although it´s a comfy dress, it gives you a silhouette that is flattering.
9. Black Pleated Long Sleeve Shirt Dress
I find this black shirt dress edgy. In winter, you can wear it with thigh high boots. In summer, you can wear it with high heels, bare legs, or with opaque heels. Definitely a dress to wear if you´re looking to make a statement while keeping things comfy.
10. Rust Tie Neck Pleated Dress
It has a similar style to the black plated dress above but this one gives a nod to this year´s bow trend. It´s very sophisticated and can be worn to work (with opaque tights and pumps), or to a date (with platform high heels).
11. Pink Midi Gathered Neck A-Line Dress
Looking for a dress that looks sweet, comfy, and pretty with sneakers? If you do, then this pink midi dress with sexy mid slit in front is for you. Soft, vibrand, and figuring-flattering thanks to its A-line silhouette.
12. Dark Green Leopard Print Frill Tiered Midi Dress
This is the style of comfy dress that I`m currently wearing often. I like to layer it with tights in winter, so it´s actually a dress for all seasons! It looks edgy with lace-up boots, and girly with flipflops.
So these are the twelve styles of relaxed-fit dresses that are super comfortable to wear but are always chic and fabulous. Gone are the days when you think “comfy means frumpy”.
