I have a confession to make, I don´t wear jewelries. Some of you who have been reading this blog for a while now must be aware of it, it´s due to religious reasons. But that doesn´t mean I don´t have jewelry in my possession. I have a small collection hidden in a beautiful jewelry box—they´re gifts from my husband, some heirloom from my German Oma, and some random gifts from friends. All are pearls. I don´t wear them, but I safe-keep them.
Many of the jewelry items I received as gifts, I also gifted away. But the ones that I kept are the adorable pearls. I simply love pearls. Although my pearl necklaces are mostly hidden in the box, I wear the pearl wrist watch with gold accents, which my late Oma gave me on my wedding day, to special events.
I like the simple but elegant character of pearls. It´s a timeless staple that no stylish woman can resist. It´s the only accessory that transcends the ages; it will never go out of fashion and will never fall short of grace.
Style Icons of All Ages Who Love Pearls
The common thing that most classic style icons share is the love for pearl. They have their own unique way of wearing it, but they exude the same classy taste that works even for the modern women of today.
Jackie Kennedy was responsible for introducing the pearl necklace as a stylish trend in the 50’s and early 60’s during her reign as the presidential wife. Her style was defined as simple but tastefully polished and always accented with classic white pearl necklace. Sometimes, she wore matching pearl earrings with her necklaces.
In this picture, Princess Diana was wearing the diamond and pearl necklace with a heart that Charles gave her to celebrate William´s birth. The reason why Charles picked that gift must be Princess Di´s love of pearls. She is remembered for favoring bold, striking outfits accented with simplistic accessories.
“A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls”, Coco Chanel was famously quoted. Of course, she walked the talk. She´s captivated by the treasures of the sea due to its rarity and beauty. If there´s only one accessory she could pick, surely it must be pearls.
Modern Style Icons Who Love Pearls
Whether she´s the coveted Carrie Bradshaw or the real-life SJP at red carpet events, Sarah Jessica´s love for pearl necklaces is evident. She has a way of showing to the world that pearls are still very much a part of today.
I admire Angelina´s minimalist but truly stunning personal style. She opts for basic solid colors such as black, white, brown, nude or green and accents it with a simple white pearl necklace.
Your Unique Way of Wearing Pearls
Bliss Necklace – White A 6-7mm Freshwater Pearl Necklace
Sophia Necklace – Pink and White A 5-7mm Freshwater Pearl Necklace
Personally, I like my pearls small, clean and white with accents of yellow or silver gold. I prefer small pearl necklaces that sit close around the neck instead of the long ropes of pearls that hang over the chests.
These pearl necklaces from Pearls Only would define my taste. I like the neatness of Bliss pearl necklace, while I adore Sophia´s whimsical look.
Although pearls are known for their simplistic vibe, you can still basically choose your own personal expression for it. Take a cue from the style icons I mentioned above, but remember to always align it to your own personal style.
