I was gone for three weeks, literally away from my working desk and computer for the entire period. It was a sweet change from my normal days which consist of blogging about fashion within the perimeter of my tiny home office. We went to Thailand! Exactly after two years since I left Bangkok to join my husband in Germany, we got to see our friends, visit my favorite shopping malls, enjoy the beach, and eat our favorite foods.
This is a good-bye Bangkok photo. I was wearing the boots that my friend Joy gave me. I normally don´t wear boots on flights, as I´ve told you my favorite comfy shoes to wear on long flights, but because we had no more space in our luggage, I had to wear them. But on our flight to Bangkok, I wore flat laced-up shoes. I´m sorry I haven´t taken a photo of that outfit, I was too excited for the trip.
The first thing I did was shop for pumps. I have issues buying pumps here in Germany because I could hardly find ones that fit perfectly. The smallest size here is 36 and they run big on me. On our first day in Bangkok, I immediately secured two pairs of pumps in size 4.
So they are my girl friends in Thailand (From left), Joy and Daisy. They´re Filipinos too. My partners in shopping, gossip, and meanness. No, I´m kidding. We´re good, friendly girls. 🙂
And here, yet another close friend, Ringo, joined us for an In Style photo shoot.
This is a laid back, very casual photo of us. We were trying to remake here an old good photo exactly in the same spot from almost three years ago.
I and my husband posed in front of Siam Paragon on one of those many evenings spent shopping at Siam Paragon, Siam Square, Central World, and many more.
I and Annie. She´s Thai-Chinese. We met in a German language class over three years ago and quickly became good friends. We helped ourselves to a delicious meal at a Japanese restaurant.
Our stay in Bangkok was mainly defined with lots of dinner dates with different sets of friends. But the one that stood out is our dinner at Viu Restaurant, The St. Regis Hotel in Bangkok, because it was … well, wonderful.
The food was great! We ordered beef steak, salmon, tuna, bison meet, ox meet, Hawaiian pizza, and we also enjoyed a buffet of various salads and sushi.
The head chef, who happened to be Daisy´s husband, informed us that we were lucky to have experienced their buffet for it was the last day that it´s available. A different promotion will replace the buffet the next day.
We spent five days in Phuket (an hour flight from Bangkok) during our first week. The plan was that we´d go back to Bangkok in the weekend, rest for three days, then travel to Koh Sameet island for a four-day-retreat. All hotels were already booked ahead of time. The third week of vacay was to be spent meeting up with friends and shopping in Bangkok.
You see me here chilling out in the private pool of our hotel room.
This photo was taken at Robinson Mall in Phuket.
The highlight of our Phuket trip was the island hopping. We visited the surrounding islands , the farthest island is four hours from the mainland by speed boat.
This is Phi Phi island, the location of Leonardo di Caprio´s The Beach movie.
We enjoyed our stay in Phuket. We flew back to Bangkok renewed and looked forward to our next trip, to Koh Sammet island. The place is close to our heart because we went there in 2009 when we got engaged. Also, we love its beach more than we love Phuket´s.
Unfortunately, a day after we got back to Bangkok, hubby fell very ill. He had food poison, probably from some food he had eaten in Phuket. He became very ill and weak. When he still didn´t show signs of progress on the third day, we were forced to cancel our trip to Koh Sameet.
You see, we were really sad. The hotel booking was no longer refundable but more than that, we couldn´t see the island which we were so excited to revisit. After hubby regained his strength, we spent the remaining week meeting up with friends and going out.
Still, we had a beautiful summer vacay!
