What is there with men wearing chucks or understated sneakers that makes us marry them? Are we women really drawn to relaxed, average guys or is it because they´re the marrying type?
Sometimes I wish my husband would also wear driving mocs, boat shoes or smoking slippers, I find them stylish. But when I tried showing him some men´s catwalk looks with such shoes, he quickly dismissed them with, “Not my style.”

Yet when I showed him a selection of Converse and high top Vans available at Blackleaf.com, his eyes lit up. Yeah, I know my hubby´s style very well. He has three pairs of designer dress shoes which he wears with suit when we go out for dinner, to church, and other special affairs. He has a pair of lace up leather ankle boots which serves as his go-to shoes when he feels like dressing up cool. But he has a countless pairs of sneakers.
Hubby wearing a casual weekend look
Many of them are sneakers from Nike and Adidas which he wears to basketball or to the gym, but most pairs are the more casual converse which he wears with shorts, or hi-top low soles sneakers which he wears with jeans.
Let´s go back to the original question: Why women are drawn to men wearing converse? or Vans?
4 Tips on Styling a Pair of Converse Shoes
1. Men who wear converse are a kid at heart who doesn´t take themselves too seriously. They like shoes that are understated, which complements their personality, and that effortlessly fit in on any occasion.
2. People like to be around converse-guys due to their easy personality. They like to take care of their appearance but they dress up to complement their woman, not to compete.
3. Men who wear Vans are low-maintenance and easygoing. Yup, Vans and Toms are generally for skater posers but those who simply want to look sporty with some sense of style, they opt for the hi-top design.
No matter how we love to date men who wear fine shoes such as Ferragamo, Gucci, and Prada, we know deep down that just like their ever expansive shoe collection, women for them are merely a commodity. And that´s why at the end of the day, most of us marry the man who wears understated shoes.
What are your thoughts? Do you filter the men you date based on their shoes?
