Today´s style Q&A is about work-appropriate hairstyles particularly the popular, ponytail. This topic is something I haven´t covered much in this blog but it is extremely important in making or breaking your work outfits.
What’s the best way to style ponytail with a suit or business attire? ~ Magnolia
Ponytail was one of my two go-to professional-looking hairstyles for work and especially for job interviews. If I didn´t pull my hair up in a pony, I straightened it and wore it neatly down. I love ponytail not only because it´s classic but that if done right, it can look powerful and smart.

High Ponytail with Bangs on Sides of the Face

VB wore her hair in a ponytail while promoting her self-designed posh vehicle ‘baby’ Range Rover and her own clothing collection in Beijing China in 2012.
Victoria Beckham is probably the only celebrity/business-woman who proved time and time again that ponytail is a great hairstyle to wear with a suit or dresses for work or business meetings.
She usually wears her pony high at the back of her head, with strands of hair (mid-length bangs) let loosely on sides of her face.
Clean Ponytail with Volume Top

If she wears her ponytail tidy by pulling evening backwards, she adds volume to the top of her head to give glamor to the hairstyle as opposed to a plain flat head.
To achieve this, after gathering your hair high in a pony, use the tail of a rat-tail comb to pull up sections of hair on top of your head. Use hairspray to hold the volume.
Wrapped Ponytail with Soft Curl Ends

Kate Middleton also has adoration for ponytail. She was seen wearing this hairstyle at least twice for work-related functions and once (as far as I´m aware) for red carpet event.
For professional-looking ponytail, Kate likes to keep her face clean by pulling all hair towards the back and securing them in a pony, with a lock of hair wrapped around the holder. She adds interest to her ponytail by soft-curling the ends of her hair for a wavy, bouncy look.
The Safest Low Tie Ponytail

There has been an on-going debate on whether or not you can wear your ponytail higher than your ears or not. Many professional women argue that to professionally rock the ponytail to work, you should keep it low.
I´m not sure if this is indeed the case or not, but if you´re working in a conservative environment, you may want to keep it safe.
Keep your ponytail low, preferably ear-level or lower, and wear it with minimalist tailored dresses or suits. Carry a structured handbag.
