Now that we´ll soon smell the breeze of fall (think colorful leaves), it´s time to look forward to fabulous layering. This favorite season of ours also gives us the excuse to wear pretty socks. Worn to peek around the cuffs of your riding boots or like an old school knee-length worn with oxfords, socks are so fun to style and come in many styles, heights and prints. Forget the gleek glee socks, we´re talking lux and chic socks inspirations here for fall 2012.
My tip is go through your drawers and conduct inventory of your socks collection. Which ones are worn out, barely used, and which are stylish? Then draw some new inspirations on how to wear and restyle it.
The Plaid and Argyle Print Mix
Skirt, Coat, Sweat, Sock, Bag, Shoe
Inspired by Anna Sui´s fall look, I love the mixing of plaid with plaid. However I thought to mix an argyle printed pair of socks with a plaid skirt, tempered with a gray sweater and pulled together with a blue coat. I love the feel of finishing the look with an interesting flat shoe.
Sophisticated Black and Metallic Gold Blend
Top, Skirt, Belt, Clutch, Boot, Sock
Dolce and Gabbana´s fall 2012 RTW plays the beauty of sophisticated laces on socks and dazzling hand-sewn designs on skirts and dresses. I love this look because it gives a spin to a an old school socks look making it appear sophisticated. The key here is to look for a pair of really gorgeous laced ankle socks to wear with black platform pumps or laced up ankle boot.
The Perfect Mustard and Black Clash
Top, Skirt, Scarf, Clutch, Sock, Pump
Clashing a mustard with black creates a very polished, chic look. You either go for a mustard top to pair with a black skirt or vice-versa. Complete the look with a black ankle sock worn with black platform pump and add a lux maroon or red clutch and a slim necktie. If you can´t find the perfect necktie, a scarf will do.
Now it´s your turn girls … how do you find these looks with socks? Which of the above inspirations would you wear for fall?
