“Well, darling, I have to say whoever invented capri pants has to be tried for the crimes against fashion. I have never ever seen capri pants that looked perfect on a girl unless it is Natalia Vodianova.”
A very respectable fashion designer once commented on a post I wrote about Capri pants. Her words made me ponder for a trillion times, if whether or not a fashionista must abandon cropped pants. Eventually I figured, if Natalia Vodianova is able to pull off a pair of capris, I´m sure there are other women who would look as great in these controversial, cropped pants. But who?
Since capri pants are designed to end at mid-calf or just below the calf, the eyes are drawn to the thick part of your legs. If you don´t have long legs, this will emphasize the shortness of your legs. In fact, capris will make your legs look even shorter than they really are.
If you´re not endowed with long legs, I suggest you go for cropped pants that hit about 2 inches above your ankle. The thickest part of your legs are covered and the attention are brought to the narrower part, before your ankle.
That said, I have put together three looks that would inspire you to fashionably wear cropped or capri pants. These are celebrity inspired looks, and as always, for less.
1. Blue and beautiful capri pants
There´s no denying, Blake Lively definitely looked great in these pair of capri pants, trendy and chic. I love how she played with colors. As you know, colored pants are currently the trend. Her royal blue capri pants are the ultimate eye-catcher, but she geniusly followed it up with a stunning sequined blazer in gold. Notice her choice of footwear. She´s wearing nude DÓrsay shoes. Nude DÓrsays are known to elongate the legs. So that explains the length between the capris´cuffs and her toes. The next time you wear capris, remember this trick.
2. Brown and smart cropped pants
Fearne Cotton was spotted rocking cropped khakis, socks, and orange heels. This is definitely one brave look for cropped pants, pulled together by a sleek black blazer. I love the upbeat attitude the orange platforms and orange crossbody bag (worn here as shoulder bag) did for this outfit. It´s a fabulous way to give an otherwise dull capris a spin. A peek of blue under the blazer and orange through her shoes and bags are appealing against the basic palettes.
3. Navy and cool cropped pants
Another Gwen Stefani´s outfit? Pardon me, but I simply couldn´t resist. She once again rocked the fashion boat by wearing navy cropped pants and a gray flyaway tank. Known for her spanky taste, she accessorized the look with ruffled platforms, oversized handbag and sexy white bangle. I love the freshness of this look, great for a family outing, BBG party with friends or a girly weekend get together. To give this outfit a more trendy appeal, I chose a strapless ruffle trim cropped harem jumpsuit with belted tie waist and pockets, for my version. The loose fit cropped tank complements but allows the pants to make most of the statement.
So tell me Creative Fashionistas, are you a fan of cropped pants? which celeb look inspires you to brave wearing this trend?
I need a pair for myself! Love these pants.

those bright blue ones are so so fun !
I love how you recreated these looks. I can’t really wear capri pants, I’m too short…but that doesn’t mean I can’t like them from afar!
I love cropped pants, but then I’m tall, so maybe they work on me. I like all three looks but what I really want this season is a pair of red capri jeans! I know, they were hot this spring, but I didn’t get them then and I still want a pair.
