Poncho is my favorite outer layering once the weather starts to cool. I like its ability to quickly add chicness to a simple outfit. I normally throw it over a simple white or dark pullover teamed with skinny jeans or denim shorts and tall boots.
And now that fall arrived early in my side of the world, I´ve been placing my ponchos at the front side of wardrobe for quick access. This is a fashion stapple for me for transitional weathers and just before the frost starts coming.
What really inspired this blog post is the wool-blend open-front poncho I stumbled upon from Banana Republic. It´s also available in black but I prefer the brown. Read on for the tips on how to wear this style of poncho.
Banana Republic Wool-Blend Open-Front Poncho
1. I love, love the texture of this wool-blend poncho and as you can see in the picture, wearing it on top of a similar textured pullover delivers a stunning result. Although you are working with simple hues, it´s the textures that do all the talking. So yes, wear this poncho with simple, earthy hues.
Burberry Carla Hooded Open-Front Poncho
2. This poncho pretty much remind me of my own brown wool poncho – a handmade project and gifted to me by an Oma friend – only that this one is a designer poncho from Burberry. If you want to keep it minimalist, match it with black and white, but don´t be afraid to wear it with bright colors such as orange, mustard, blue and even fuchsia.

3. In fall, the surroundings are colorful. If you want to standout, opt with a snowy white combo. Try a white open-front combot to wear with sand color, or even beige! It will also work with pastel colors.
Missoni – Fringed Crochet-knit Wool-blend Poncho – Blue
4. It´s easier and quicker to put-on an all-black combo, especially if you don´t have the time to wax awesome color combinations, but you can quickly level up an all-black, or any all-dark combos, with this stunning fringed and printed poncho from Missoni.

Add a hint of pattern to your luxurious black outfit. You keep yourself warm but also chic at the same time.
Burberry Lace-Trim Hooded Poncho, Black
I´m definitely in love with this black hooded poncho from Burberry, it´s sophisticated and totally fabulous. If you have such a poncho, the only best approach is to let it standout. Wear it with a simple all-white outfit.
Weekend Max Mara Medusa Striped Poncho
Because poncho is room-y, you tend to wear it with body-hugging under layers such as skinny pants. But why not give them a huge surprise by teaming your poncho with a pair of wide leg pants? This look from Maxx Mara is boho chic.
Now over to you, girls, let me know if you´re into open-front poncho for transitional weathers.
