The purple dress I wore to a friend´s wedding in Dec. 2010.
Since the day I wore a long purple dress to a friend´s wedding, I´ve fallen in love with this color. The dress and its color were so fabulous that they caused people to turn head. When I purchased the dress, it didn´t come with a belt. The style is empire waist with pleated bust. The empire style didn´t flatter my figure well given that the dress is too long so I added a thick black belt to give definition on my waist. I loved the result.
Many women are intimidated with a purple dress. They often wonder how to wear it, what shoes and acessories to wear with it, and sometimes, just what type of purple dress to choose. If you´re looking to master accessorizing a purple dress with bright colors, check out style contributor Helen´s advice.
My personal style is more about creating elegance. Since purple is already a very striking color, I´d like to accessorize it with neutrals. When I do add bright colors to it, I stick with analogic mix. That means colors that are in the same family with purple. Of course you can also add compliment colors (colors that clash nicely with purple). However, I find that the best way to play with colors is my sticking with at least one complimentary and let the rest be analogic. If you stash a lot of bright colors on a purple, the result is overwhelming.
Purple Lace Dress
Are you looking for a dress to wear to a wedding or to a date? Tap your inner romance with this gorgeous laced purple dress. The raw finish of the three forth sleeves and the skirt, doubled with a concealed back zip, are stunning. Complete the look with equally romantic accessories – a sophisticated black satin clutch and nude pumps.
Purple Jersey Dress
I love adding a black belt to a purple dress. That´s the reason why this dress is something I definitely would love to wear. It´s chic and contemporary with featured draping cross over style neckline that extend to the bodice and met with ruching at the sides. This silhouette gives you a slim appearance. Because the slim black belt is a given, add a pair of stylish black pumps and an embellished black bag for an ultra stunning evening look.
Purple Evening Dress
This maxi style purple evening dress is something you can wear to a wedding or a formal cocktail party. It boasts an elegant neckline and cascading pleated skirt. Isn´t it a sweetheart? The subtly structured waistband draw attention to your slimmest part while the removable spaghetti straps give you the freedom to decide whether to bare your shoulders or to secure things in place. A pair of metallic strapped sandals and a pearl-adorned clutch are perfect to polish the look.
Purple Backless Maxi Dress
You can also wear a purple long dress to less formal events. This purple maxi dress from Lulus features a backless style, a fitted triangle-cut bodice, and spaghetti straps that crisscross for a sexy open back. I would like the dress to do all the talking so I would add a nude ankle wrap platform sandal and a cute mocha brown handbag.
Chiff-on Purple Dress
A chiffon purple mini dress is a fun piece to wear for a casual smart outfit. I love the flow of this frock and I find it versatile. Try it with a pair of crafted, multi strapped silver sandal and a glamour, sparkly clutch for a very fancy look. Or you can dress it up with studded cap-toe pumps and a complimentary necklace for a result that totally wows.
Peplum Purple Dress
This Reign Peplum Dress is a new item from Nasty Gal. I really adore its flirty, upbeat appeal. It´s something that would truly turn heads. The dress features bustier, a peplum waist, and criss cross straps at the back. It´s time for some bright color play. Add a yellow clutch box (complimentary color) and a fuchsia sandal (analogic color) for a bold look that doesn´t fail to make impression.
So tell me darlings, which purple dress are you? How would you wear it?
