Did you ever hear some fashionistas claim that you would never ever see them in sweatpants? It´s not just Victoria Beckham (although she actually recently took back this statement when she wore sweatpants to her son´s tennis training), there are other not so famous self-confessed fashionistas who say the same thing. But for me, it must depend on the style of sporty pants you´re wearing – track pants, cargo pants, or sweatpants, how stylish they look, and how you wear them.
So for all of you girls out there who have this common misconception that sporty pants are not fashionable, here are three looks that would hopefully change your mind.
The Cargo Pants
Juicy Couture, Leather Track Pants $498
In picking for that right cargo pants, whether it´s leather or other material, see to it the leg area fits close enough to your skin. Then need not be skin-tight as it defeats the sporty look but they shouldn´t be oversized ballooning around your thighs either. Go for black and never teem them with runners unless you´re actually heading to the gym. Choose a pair of sleek black ankle boots to add sophisticated. Opt for a soft earthy-hue long sleeve tee for your top. You can easily throw over a fur vest if the weather requires.
T by Alexander Wang, Tweed Print Sweatpants $235
When it comes to sweatpants, this tweed print sweatpants by Alexander is the coolest pair I´ve ever seen. This look is about playing with black and gray colors. Pair it with a black tank top for a laid low casual look and a pair of chic, black ankle strap pumps for that sexy appeal. If you need a coverup, add a dark-colored boyfriend blazer.
The Cargo Pants
Alice + olivia, Smocked Cargo Pants $198
Although cargo style pants were never in my list of sporty pants, military green is in my color list. So when I saw this military, smocked cargo pants by alice + olivia, I had nothing but admiration. Teaming it with burgundy leather ankle boots and a complementary two toned tee, you have a delicious, very sporty yet stylish look.
In wearing sporty pants such as cargo, track or sweatpants, always pair them with striking and gorgeous shoes. Never with sneakers or runners.
Do you wear any of these sporty pants? How do you style it?
