Yesterday we talked about what it would be like to have extra $2000 fun money which is yours to spend or save each month.
Most importantly, I provoked you to consider what it would be like to work doing what you love, to go to work because you love your job and not purely because you need the money.
I´ve been blogging for over five years now and the last three years were full-time. I´m thankful for the opportunity to work from home without a boss, and to build a lifestyle business that I am proud of.
Now I´m pulling back the curtain so you can have a peek on how I make money from my blog.
Check your intentions
There is an endless possibility of making money online. In fact, you can make money quick, really quickly, if you find the effective triggers and methods that work. But for most of us, it took us years of tweaking and experimenting before we figured it out.
And yet, when it comes down to making a fortune from your blog, the first important step that you need to do is check your intentions. Why do you want to blog?
To make money! If that´s the first answer that comes out, then you are VERY likely to fail.
What difference are you going to make to your reader´s life? This should be your main goal. Your intention should be to help your readers, to make a change, to inspire and to motivate.
If you build your blog with these intentions in mind, rather than to make money, success is guaranteed to follow.
Why is this so?
In less than ten seconds your readers can tell if you´re there to help them or to make money off them. If they smell that your blog is all about you and it´s all about selling to them, they´re going to run away like someone who´s avoiding a plague.
But if they sense that your intention is to help, they´re going to stick around, and they´re going to love you for it.
Loyal readers, not big traffic, not an over-bloat social media following, are the ones who will drive money to your blog.
Where´s the money from?
You can recommend products that are going to be useful to your readers, products that you have firsthand experience or knowledge about. Because they trust you and because it´s going to make life better to them, they will buy those products that you recommend and you will earn through commission. That´s what we call affiliate marketing.
If you want to keep helping your readers without selling to them, then you can monetize your blog through advertising – sponsored posts and banner ads. This is the main monetizing strategy for Creative Fashion on its first two years.
Show me the fortune
Every time you hit publish sending helpful + quality articles out to the world, your readers will eventually find you. Your traffic will grow organically.
Invite them to sign up to your email newsletter so you can send them love notes every week, the same love notes you receive from me every Wednesday.
You can build a community of loyal readers by providing them quality contents, interacting with them through your email newsletter, through your blog posts´ comments or through social media.
As you get to know them, you will know their fears, their worries, and their needs. Because they trust you, they will open up their feelings to you.
This will give you ideas on what products to create. You can write a book addressing your readers´ needs, you can make podcasts or paid videos, or you can launch online courses.
Your fortune lies there, on creating products that your readers are looking for, products that solve their problems or that inspire and entertain them.
But I´m not a good writer …
You don´t need to be a celebrated writer to make your blog a success. As long as you can convey your thoughts in English, you will do fine. In fact, readers love it if you write like you talk. Make your writing conversational, use apostrophes, use slang (but acceptable) words, and write like you talk to a friend.
After a while of blog writing, you will eventually get the hang of it and you will feel more confident.
You can also mix your blog posts with videos. I haven´t done it on this blog yet, but I will do it in the future. Videos are the next big thing.
In as much as you want to make a fortune from your blog, making it your main goal will divert your attention from helping your readers. In order to make real money online, your goal first and foremost should be to help your readers, solve their problems, make a difference in their lives, and money will follow.
Now that you have a clear picture of how I make money online, on my next email I´m going to show you how to naturally invite abundance to your blog and how to be confident online.
