When I was living in Asia, my signature look was denim shorts. I could create a hundred and one fabulous outfits out of a single denim shorts. But when I moved to Europe and the weather turned SO chilly, I´m now on the look out for fashionable ways to dress up for cold days.
It´s all about creating great layering with genius color combinations. I believe that while dressing up stylishly on cold days can be challenging, it´s not impossible nor too difficult. Here are three ways to stay fashionable when it´s coldy.
60´s Style with Modern Twist
You can easily stand out if you know how to incorporate vintage fashion to your style. You can try a 60´s inspired coat with color block design and give it a twist. Wearing a pair of really gorgeous shoes is a quick way to give vintage pieces a modern look. You can also add some animal print accessories, they´re very attention grabber and they can blend well with anything vintage.
Color Block Layering
You know I will never skip this look, vibrant color blocking to block the grayish or whitish landscape. Start creating the look by picking up one from your technicolor coats. Once you´ve decided for the bright coat, identify what colors complement it. If you´re unsure, you can check your color wheel. In this outfit above, I first chose a rich yellow coat, and I know that blue, pink and violet are its complementary colors. Yellow stands out very well against black, so I opted for black skinny jeans.
Faux or Real Fur Look
There are two reasons why you should love fur coats, whether real or faux, for cold days – they´re warmth is cozy and they´re naturally stylish. Fur coat is already a statement so you need little to style it. In this outfit above, I kept the rest of the layering items – sweater and skirt – in neutral colors, black and gray. I wanted the leggings to be something interesting so I went for a patterned black and white which still goes with the theme. For a smooth transition, the boots are white and are certainly equally stunning. I love bright colors so the mini bag is red.
Have your say …
So tell me Creative fashionistas, which of these looks would you like to try this season? How do you stay fashionable when it´s cold?
