Good news! There´s a modern way to do boho-chic inspired outfit. Ditch those flowery and printed boho pieces and get some single colored separates, April of Sweet Escape shows you how to style yours.
My love for boho-chic inspired me to create this look. I love the free-spirit and artistry about it. In doing boho, you can mix different elements whether its vintage, ethnic, colors or textures. You can also add modern pieces to create modern bohemian look.

60’s and 70’s hippie bohemian style
I would love to wear this look to a Music Festival in summer. I think this outfit has a modern take of the 60’s and 70’s hippie bohemian style. Im also inspired by Nicole Richie, she knows how to achieve balance in her bohemian look by adding just the right amount of layers and accessories. She´s also impeccably good in mixing prints, colors and textures without overdoing it. Like her, I´m a mom and a lover of fashion.
To achieve this result, I used the leopard belt from Target as the base. I love leopard print but I wanted to create something that doesn´t scream leopard everywhere. My aim was to do it subtly by blending the print with other solid colored separates. I paired it with my one shoulder teal chiffon top from Bebe, yellow chiffon balloon skirt from Forever 21 and nude ankle boots from Steven Madden. I love the style of the ankle boots because of its wide cuff and nude color that helped to elongate my short legs.
Usually, girls pair a one-shoulder blouse with leggings or skinny pants. But I was surprised when I paired it with the yellow skirt for together, they looked like a dress.
A bohemian look isn´t complete without plenty of accesories so I added this colorful tribal necklace, gold cuff, ethnic bracelet and a statement ring. Those are from Forever 21 and Kohls. To finish up the boho-chic ensemble, I just put on my gold elastic headband, my usual everyday hairstyle.
1. How to Dress Bohemian Style: Get-Inspired
One outfit that I miss when the weather requires me to bundle up is a boho look. I love bohemian style outfits because of the colors and details that are working well together and creating a happy and refreshing vibe.
Wearing this outfit demanSo for this summer, I´ve put together several bohemian style outfits that will inspire you to add a dose of boho, if not embrace, to your wardrobe this season.
2. Sexy in Mini
Similar: Cardigan / Dress / Bag
I´m a fan of mini skirts because of the freedom of movement that they give. To have a boho skirt in mini is like having two reasons to enjoy the outfit. Here, I paired an Indian ethnic full skirt with a beaded bib tank top in coral.
To emphasize the beaded detailing of the top, I picked a pair of chocolate patches shoes to match it. Brown cross-body bag with orange strings, tonal teardrop earrings with three faceted beads in harmonizing colors, and a wooden bangle are simply great to accent this look.
3. Flirty in Maxi Skirt
Similar: Top / Skirt / Sandals / Bag
I first discovered my love for boho maxi skirts when a close Indian colleague gave me a printed Indian skirt. Their rich colors and lively details are adorable and its free-flowing hems are so comfortable.
Although a little challenging to style, if you have an eye for boho look, the outcome is very fulfilling. In this outfit, I went for a maxi boho printed skirt with vibrant large florals. I picked one color from the skirt to highlight and that´s blue, therefore I added a Blue Bead and Shell Choker and a Peacock Feather Print Bangle to the look.
If you want to subtly deliver a flirty-in-a-good way message, wear a flower clip. Flat gladiator sandals are all but chic and comfy.
4. Gorgeous in Boho-Maxi Dress
Similar: Dress / Jacket / Sandals
A great maxi dress is always gorgeous, but opt for a bohemian maxi dress and it´s very chic. In this boho look, I chose a Channel bohemian maxi with tiered silhouette of tie-dyed silk georgette and spaghetti straps tie at neck.
The best detail of this dress are the slightly gathered skirt that create soft drapes at the hem. To casually toughen the look, layer over with a cropped denim jacket. Perfect boho accessories for this outfit include feather necklace, arrow cuff and studded flat sandals.
Are you a fan of bohemian look? Which of the above boho-inspired outfits would you prefer to wear? Are you missing summer outfits yet?
5. Work on patterns and textures
Similar: Top / Jacket / Pants / Necklace / Earrings / Heels
Layering of bohemian prints and mixing different textures are key for this look. Layer a coral tailored blazer over a cotton tunic with sweet bohemian embroidery, then team with bright printed and metallic jeans. Add a pair of orange, strappy booties to match your blazer and inject a bit if seductiveness. The perfect necklace and ring will complement the tunic top.
6. Incorporate the summer cutout trend
Update the season´s cutout trend with vintage-inspired prints. This charming cotton dress from Suno will make for a fresh bohemian look. Accessorize it with a floppy hat updated with sash of sequins, a stash of necklace and bracelets, and snake-skin, two-tone high-heel sandals.
7. Go for striking bohemian sandals
Similar: Lace Up Heels / Block Heel Pumps
Get yourself a pair of playful, printed sandals. Worn with light washed denim shorts, a roomy sleeveless tank top, and a floppy hat, these sandals will speak bohemian for the entire outfit. Whether it´s a soft, rainbow washed towering wedged sandal or a mixed-print caged platform you´re eyeing for, you´re guaranteed to rock that wild, artistic appeal.
8. Mix sequins with Bohemian print
Similar: Shorts / Top / Cuff / Heels
This look is more about contrasting girly elements with wild geometric patterns. Wear a sequined sheer silk top featuring delicate drapes with bright-colored cutout shorts for a feminine yet playful summer ensemble. Polished with a cute necklace, a cuff, and ankle boots, the result is clean and sporty.
9. Polish a Bohemian look with a headpiece
Similar: Headpiece
Mimic Nicole Ritchie´s trademark style with a headpiece. A 24k gold-plated chain headpiece features Swarovski crystals at the flower and teardrop details is probably the most luxurious bohemian accessory you could have. But if it´s too out of budget, look for a more affordable head piece; there´s a wide selection available in the market.
10. Boho Midi Swoon Dress
One thing that I love about summer is the chance it gives us to embrace our free spirit, we get to cover or bare as much skin as we want, and we get to play with more colors and prints. That´s the reason why in summer, we see many beautiful boho-inspired pieces springing out.
Take their breath away with this trapeze dress featuring an array of ornate prints and a scalloped, lace-trimmed handkerchief hem. It´s a daytime gown which will surely empress the crowd, why not? With its grand color combination which, even if beautifully busy, is still dominated with neutral tones.
A pair of wooden platforms with t-straps that are made to complement the dress is your perfect polish-it-up.
11. Goodness Ruffled Hem Dress
She´s my favorite from the team! Not because she´s flowy, fancy, or chambray, but just because the way she is. The first time I lay my eyes on her, I quickly knew she´s very me. Soft tone and print in a mix of playful and girly silhouette are her best features.
I will surely not mind going boho the entire season if I´m treated to boho frocks like her. Finish up with equally feminine wedges.
12. Boho Acoustic Maxi Dress
You know that this fuchsia maxi dress has a stunning boho voice, but that voice is neither loud nor bold, which I like. She´s eye-catching enough while still keeping it classy-chic. But I want to make the most of her, so I will wear a pair of really attention-grabbing boho-inspired dazzling sandals to seal the statement.
13. Boho A-line Tier Dress
There are days when I also want to go leggy, that´s when I´d prefer a tiered black printed dress like this oh-so-fluttery frock which I am going to wear with some black ankle boots that will surely make you go ohhh and ahhh.
In short, this is how you do a monochromatic boho ensemble.
14. Boho Long-Sleeve A-line Dress
I love surprises. So instead of wearing this long sleeve little paisley print dress to a restu opening or a romantic movie date with a pair of high heels, I will wear it with slingback beach sandals, a nude oversized tote bag, and white oversized sunglasses. How gorgeous!
So tell me, which bohemain fashion would you love to wear this summer? Which boho dress outfit are you?

Lovely dress April! I really love these colours in this outfit. Appreciate the layering as well. -xx
I came into the Boho Groove a little late in life but it is one of my favorite looks to wear. The flare jeans, the wedges, oodles and oodles of bangles and feathers! I absolutely adore April’s inspiration. It’s a great take on the trend!
I need warm weather soon to rock a look this fierce 🙂
I love this boho look! So trendy.
I love the layering and the lightweight fabrics, and the colors are so pretty together. 😀
