Thank you girls for all the emails I received from you expressing your desire to learn how to start a blog and how to earn from the internet, part-time or full-time. I´m super excited because we´re now on our third blog post, I´m going to draw the big picture of all the wonderful opportunities on building a lifestyle business and what´s the best way to approach it.
So pay attention, this is the first time I´m sharing my secrets, all that I learned from over five years of blogging, and this is probably the last.
If you missed my first two tutorials, I strongly advise you to leave this blog post, go and read them first, then come back here.
But first, what is a Lifestyle Business.
We call it Lifestyle Business because you build your business to fit your lifestyle. It´s not you who will adapt and fit in to your business, which is the case if you´re employed or if you build an offline business, but it´s the other way around.
You can choose to work only in the morning, break your day by taking a nap or going out to exercise, or work only in the afternoon until evening.
This is how my daily routine looks like:
I get up at ten in the morning, I love the warmth of my morning bed. Then I do the bed, cuddle and feed my cat, and spend twenty to thirty minutes stretching.
After that I open my laptop to check emails and social media. I return urgent emails, respond to some tweets or Facebook comments, and then I go to work.
On Mondays, I write articles for Creative Fashion. If I´m really good, I could write three quality articles which will be scheduled to publish for Monday to Wednesday.
On Tuesdays, I write more articles or I tweak/update the website.
On Wednesdays, I send Creative Fashion´s newsletter.
Thursdays are for my creativity. I don´t work on Creative Fashion but I write books, poetry or short stories. I also use this day to plan for products to create.
On Fridays, I spend two hours returning advertisers´ emails and updating my social media accounts. Then I call it a week! My husband comes home early on Fridays, we have lunch and then we go out for our weekly date.
I don´t work on Saturdays. On Sunday afternoons, I plan for my week´s activities.
This is my normal routine. However, life does get hectic if I´m launching a product, which was the case these past three months when I launched a monthly magazine for Christian women.
But because I´m the boss and I´m in control, I know when to pause and relax.
That´s the reason why we call it LIFESTYLE Business, it´s a lifestyle.
But as I´ve mentioned earlier, I did not start off with this routine. For two years I did blogging part-time while I was still teaching. I taught during the day and blogged at night.
Your lifestyle schedule will develop on its own as your online business grows and expands.
How to Attract Abundance to a Lifestyle Business
There are many ways and approaches to attract abundance to your lifestyle business. You will have to discover it on your own, however, there are basic steps that you should follow when you´re starting out.
1. Find your niche market.
If you´re selling cat foods, would you sell them to dog owners? Obviously, you´re going to look for people who own cats. Those cat owners are your niche market.
Identifying your niche market will help you build your business solidly because you´re going to speak to audience who are interested on your topic.
A well-defined narrowed market is more effective than a big undefined market.
For example, if you´re on your middle thirties and you want your blog to focus on business suits and powerful work wardrobe, having thousands of stay-at-home moms reading your blog isn´t going to help you. The reason is obvious, SAH moms aren´t going to buy your products.
2. Establish yourself as an expert.
One of the important triggers that will cause your audience to trust you is AUTHORITY. Unless they feel that you really know what you´re talking about, they´re not going to listen to you.
Making your area of specification the topic of your blog is a no-brainer, you´re already an expert in that field so it doesn´t take sweat to showcase your expertise.
If I chose education, Mathematics and debating, as topics for my blog, it would have been easier for me to establish my expertise. But I decided to move to the creative world, so it required more work on my part.
How do you become an expert in a field that you´re interested of but know nothing about? READ. Buy books related to that area that you want to blog about, read as much as you can. If you can read ten books about “personal style” for example, you will know way more than those who didn´t. In front of those people who haven´t read ten style books, you are an expert.
So you see, becoming an expert in your chosen field online should NOT be difficult. It requires work, but it´s achievable.
3. Plan your business model early.
When I became a full-time blogger, I knew a lot on how to build a quality, high-traffic blog. I thought I was ready; I plunged ahead and fired up building my blog. And then I realized after a few months that I did have big traffic but I wasn´t making the most of it, my target income was still beyond reach.
It made me understood that planning a business model for my blog is as important as planning its structure and traffic growth. In fact, before I launched my blog, I should have already been clear of my business model.
How are you going to mainly monetize your blog? What´s your backup plan once the first model doesn´t work?
4. Learn when to do what.
Here´s a short list of what you need to do to build a successful lifestyle business – launch your blog, write quality contents, optimize your contents for search engines, build an email list, grow your traffic, partner with other bloggers through joint ventures, create and launch your products.
These are the WHAT. From my experience, the more important questions are – WHEN and HOW.
You can do all these in the list but not knowing when to execute them, which comes first and which next, and how to EFFECTIVELY do them; your road to success is going to be LONG.
Why take the long road if there´s a short cut? And why spend so much time experimenting if someone has already taken the journey and discovered the important secrets?
I can tell you all the tips that I learned firsthand, but it will take me over a hundred blog posts and emails. So what I did was compiled them in a book.
In this book I had NO reserve, I poured out all that I know and learned from my over five years of blogging and building my lifestyle business.
All the information that I laid out in the book are applicable no matter which niche market you choose, whether it´s fashion, beauty or lifestyle. It will guide you how to plan the structure and business model of your blog, and it will take you by the hand step by step.
This book is the second edition of the first blogging guide I wrote in 2012. The contents of the first book were expanded by 50%, and this 2nd Edition comes with Bonuses.
But here´s the BEST part … tomorrow, I will introduce to you my product and I will lower its retail price BIG TIME.
This offer, including its Bonuses, are going to be limited, so make sure to keep an eye on my blog post tomorrow.
