Some women like to wear denim, some don´t. For me though, I noticed that I wear more denim in colder months than in warmer months. When I lived in Bangkok, Thailand, for six years, not once did I buy a piece of denim – whether denim jeans, skirt, dress or jacket.
Why? Because I didn´t feel comfortable wearing denim on a hot day. And it was always hot in Thailand.
But after I moved to Germany, I rediscovered my love for denim. In fact, I realized that in this part of the world denim is a neccessity. I have since bought several styles of denim jeans – I have denim jeans for summer and denim jeans for winter, and I now own two gorgeous denim jackets.
I definitely enjoy now creating outfits involving denim.
This post looks into the different ways we can look stylish in denim, regardless of our style. These outfits are great for warmer months and they will transition nicely to colder months.
1. Choose a Light-Washed Denim Pants to Wear with White
Light-Washed Denim pants may not be for everyone – especially not for those who aim to look thinner. But if you do choose to wear light-washed denim pants, you may look great by teaming it with a dressy daytime top in white. The idea here is to create a tonal look for a polished result.
Whether your denim pants are freshly new or they naturally faded over time, you can elevate the look by choosing a feminine dressy white top and some white sneakers to go with it.
2. When Wearing a Denim Jumpsuit, Choose the Right Footwear
A denim jumpsuit can be tricky because it can create bulging around the belly and waist. However, the key here is choosing the type of denim material that flatters your shape and fulfill your needs.
If your slim, you can get away with thicker denim. Otherwise you may feel more comfortable in softer denim that skims your curves and allows movement.
3. Dress Up Your Worn-Out Denim Jeans with Lace
Oftentimes a black top doesn´t look great with a pair of light denim jeans. I´m not sure what is it exactly about black top and light denim pairing that makes it off, but it´s probably because of that strong contrast that is too heavy for the eye.
However, a lace waterfall jacket in black that is layered over a white tank top can look pretty with light-washed denim jeans. It´s that hint of white through the lace that balances the black and light-washed contrast.
4. Style Some High-Waist Skinny Jeans with Simple White and a Really Gorgeous Bag
For me, nothing beats the feel of wearing a simple white top with my favorite stretchy skinny denim jeans. It´s a simple outfit but smart. If worn with white sneakers, I can run errands in comfort and still look put-together.
5. When Running Errands, Feel Comfy Yet Still Look Comfy in Vintage Denim Jeans
Most boyfriend jeans nowadays have a modern look – think tattered, distressed or ripped. But if you want something with a vintage-feel to it, try a pair of Gaucho jeans in vintage blue. It´s clean, relaxed, and has that timeless 90s shape.
Wear it with your favorite white t-shirt and white sneakers for a true mom-jean, stunning look.
6. To Look Stylish in Denim, Layer a Light Blue Denim with Soft Neutrals
It´s amazing how much power this season´s soft neutrals have. They´re muted so they´re supposed to not make a punch, but in fact, their punch extends beyond women´s wardrobe to everyone´s living spaces.
Have noticed soft, earthy shades everywhere? From baskets to rags, to wooden stools and furniture, to decors? It´s like high-fashion meets Nordic style, if not Bohemian.
Anyway, soft neutrals look fabulous with light blue too. So if you have a really light blue denim jacket, make sure to create an outfit with this season´s trendy neutrals.
7. In Choosing a denim dress, go for something that allows movement
I don´t find denim jeans comfortable to wear. And that´s why I never owned a denim dress. But if I do get a denim dress for me, it would be something that has a slightly loose fit such as this dress above. I love its volume sleeves too. (I am really into volume sleeves.)
Thankfully, a clean denim dress is like a blank canvas. You can create a picture with according to the weather or to your mood. Either wear it with some casual white trainers or with sexy strappy high heels.
8. You can never go wrong with a classic white shirt teamed with denim jeans
Go through your close and see if you have a winter white denim jean, or some really faded light blue jeans. And this week, wear it with a classic white shirt. Have fun with the shoes. You can wear this combo with some casual trainers or with your best high-heels.
9. If all things fail, opt for the classic denim skirt
A denim skirt with an A-line silhouette is probably the most versatile skirt you can ever have. You can wear it with casual tees and feminine blouses either with you everyday shoes or with your dress high heels.
You can also transition it for fall with a sweater and some nude knee-high boots.
10. Laidback yet still stylish in boyfriend denim jeans and pop-over shirt
This last outfit is my favorite look to wear as of late. I´ve always been into relaxed and roomy pop-over shirts especially those with drop shoulders. But I´ve always worn my shirts with some tight shorts or leggings.
Lately though I´ve been experiementing wear my pop-over shirts with boyfriend denim jeans and loose pants. I love this outfit for its laidback feel and effortless vibe.
