Now that we´ve already covered the fashion tips for apple shape and pear shape body types, it´s time to talk styling for a very well-proportioned, bombshell figure, the hourglass.
Celebrities with hourglass shape are Gray’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl, the notoriously confident Kate Winslet, and the modern version of the legendary Marilyn Monroe, Scarlett Johansson.

What makes a body Hourglass?
You have an hourglass if your shoulders and hips are roughly about the same width with a defined waist. To quickly check if you have an hourglass figure, stand straight in front of a mirror and place your hands on your hips. Do you see two (perfect) triangles opposing, facing in, in the spaces between your arms and side?
Now what´s the plan?
Because your shoulder line is well-proportioned and balanced to your hips, you have a shapely bust, defined waistline and good legs, you can easily dress like an Italian movie star. For girls like me with smaller bust, wear a padded bra with molded cup to enhance a curvy silhouette that´s in balance to your hips and bottom. The plan is to always highlight your curve and emphasize your waist.
What to Look for?
1. Soft Pieces
Because you want to highlight your curves, look for soft pieces that skim and drape your curves.
2. Perfect Silhouette
Opt for silhouettes that highlight your waist and worn at knee-length to show off your legs. Your waist should always be the focal point so avoid straight full tunic tops and shifts that hide your shape.
3. Long Vertical Line
Also, keep your vertical line long to complement your body shape by going for monochromatic and tonal color combinations.
4. V-Neck
If you have a well-shaped, full bust, V-necks are perfect for you, a sure thing for a sexy look. Oval neckline is an alternative.
5. Belted
One of your best choices when it comes to emphasizing your hips are belted pieces, be it for your coat, jacket, top or dress.
Casual Day or Weekend Look for Hourglass
My favorite weekend casual outfit is an off-shoulder loose tee in comfy cotton that hits and hugs around the hips paired with denim shorts, although fitted cotton tees are also in my list. If you have full busts however, you won´t look good in fitted tees so instead, opt for skimming cotton that hits at high hips or hip bone.
Halters with plunging V-neck worn with a circle skirt will look cute and sexy on you. Soft blouson teamed with capris (low calf to ankle length) and trendy wedge sandals is both a casual and smart look you can wear in summer.
When it comes to jeans, and depending on the fullness of your derriere, try dark stretch denim with varying hem widths from flare to bootcut, and varied rises from low waist to hipbone. Wear your jeans with a wrap top with V cross-over in matte jersey and knites for an effortless look that accentuate the curve of your hips.
On the Go Professional Looks for Hourglass Body Type
For outfits that impress, be it at work or to a business meeting, pencil skirt, A-line skirt, flat-front trouser, low-waist, boot-cut or flare, are top in the list. If your taller, you can pull-off pants with wider legs. Hem your trousers to wear with heels.
For your above, opt for a wrap belted jacket, a wrap top, or a slightly fitted cardigan in simple and minimal details worn at high hip to hipbone length with your full trousers or pencil skirt.
Dresses and All Glammed-Up Looks for Hourglass Shape
Now it´s time to party! First let´s talk dresses. Look for a nipped-waist sheath dress with torso skimming and subtle shaping at waist. Tank dress, body conscious that skim your curves and shows off your legs at knee-length. Wear a loose belt or sash, preferably resting at low waist, to give definition to your waist. Look for bias, diagonal cuts with plenty of drapes and halter.
You what´s the ultimate favorite for shapely girls? A wrap dress! It´s a sure thing for a smooth and sexy glammed look. And please, V-neck, v-neck.
If you wear a strapless dress and yo have full bust, make sure to look for stayles with boning and support built-in, a defined waist, vertical seams through the torso and a pencil or circle skirt worn at knee-length.
Rocking an hourglass is all about embracing your shape and strutting your curves. Don´t hide your figure, dress it up with the right outfits that suit your bombshell body type.
