So you think that knee socks, below the knee lace skirts, high school neck tie, and oxfords are old school? Well, Laureen Moffatt in her Fall 2012 Ready to Wear reinvented back to school looks which will make you look many years younger.
There are sprinkles of polka dots, clashing prints, and lots of socks. She also incorporated stripes, a spring and summer trend, as well as plaid prints in her collection. The tops are always worn tucked in.
If you´d want to turn back time and look fresh this fall, here are some back to school looks you can wear.
Polka Dot with Lace
This look has a vintage appeal. If you can find a polka dot top with bib detail, the better. Pair it with a white or an ivory lace skirt, knee length or below the knee, tucked in. To create a back to school theme, add white (mid shin) socks with heeled oxford ankle boots.
The NeckTie Look
There´s something in this look that makes me love it a lot. It must be the necktie. Dig that silk top you´ve burried down in the closet to wear with a maroon (or any color) skirt, shorts or layered over skirt. Match your slim belt to the color of your shirt. Roll up your shirt´s sleeves and tuck in your bottom. Then add black knee high socks and flat oxford shoes.
Monochromatics Dots
This is a comeback of polka dots. To mimic Laureen´s runway look, look for a three-forth sleeved monotchromatic polka dot dress to wear with white tights and oxford shoes.
Mix and Match
Stripes are big for spring and summer but Laureen Moffatt showed us that they can transition to fall too. Team your striped top or sweater with a plaid skirt or any other similar patterned skirt. Add black knee high socks and oxford shoes for a modern mix and match, back to school look.
Would you wear a back to school style for fall?
You are right, the outfit I wore on Sunday totally fits this ‘back to school’ style you portrayed here. So funny cause my inspiration was a year old.
Just shows you.
