One of the most repeated style question here in Creative Fashion is desk to date outfits, professional and smart pieces that can be easily dressed down for casual after-work parties or styled up for romantic dates, if not for girls’ night out escapades. And that´s the reason why desk-to-date has become a new series here, I´m going to hunt for those exact items hard-working chicks are looking for.
This week, I found these three monochromatic patterned/textured dresses from Banana Republic. Read on to know why they´re a great pick for office to party wear.
1. Striped Jersey Zip Dress
It has ruched bodice, it hugs your figure without revealing too much. It has long sleeves which you can easily pull up to create a more elegant quarter sleeve look, and those same sleeves have contrast stripe shoulders which work best to flatter a pair of narrow shoulders.
To dress it for an after-five party, add a sequined jacket and black strapped high heels. To look on-the-go for more casual get-togethers, layer it with a gray sweater and a black leather jacket on top, complete with comfy slip-ons.
2. Squiggle Print Flounce Dress
I love the flirtiness of this dress, figure flattering with its wrap bodice and layered flounce skirt. Although you can wear it as is teamed with sexy black pumps to dinner dates, you would like to cover it up for work. Toughen up its girly silhouette with a tailored suit jacket for the office, and wear black opaque stockings to cover the legs and to keep the entire look powerful.
3. Tweed Sheath
Here´s a beautiful reinvention of the classic sheath dress, with its strategic side insets which are there for two reasons – to inject a touch of modern to a rather bland mono and to flatter your figure, making your waist appear slimmer. Make sure to complete the look with this coveted ankle strap colorblock pumps.
To wear it to the office, add a white blazer if you have narrow shoulders or a black blazer if you have broad shoulders. Those in between may experiment layering the dress with light tone open cardigans.
