I´ve been wanting to add some floral pieces to my summer wardrobe so I did some window shopping online. I found some lovely floral pieces from Topshop but I couldn´t quite decide which piece will be more functional for me.
When I say functional I refer to pieces that I would actually wear more rather than just being cute but would rarely be worn.
I created looks for them as I try to weigh both their style and practicality.
Black Floral High Low Skirt
This high low skirt in black floral is functional. I can wear it with a black t-shirt and some kitten heels for a date with my husband. I can also swap the heels for lace-up boots if I´m to wear this look casual, perfect for running errands.
To wear it to church I will team up this skirt with a black collared top that is more fitted to the body and the shoes will be strapped black stilettos.
Furthermore, I will transition the look for fall by adding a white or yellow jacket and some opaque black tights. In winter, the skirt will look really sexy with slender knee-length leather boots in black.
Black Patchwork Floral Bias Skirt
This high waist, floral midi skirt has a sexy slit in front. Worn with trainers or heels, it will look flattering on tall women. But for a petite woman like me, I will only look good in it if I wear it with stiletto heels. Otherwise, flats and this skirt will make me look frumpy.
Therefore, although the skirt is a stylish and practical choice for a taller woman, it´s not as practical for me.
Floral Frill Hem Shirt Dress
I love, love this floral print. But I´ve already bought a dress with similar style and the same silhouette. So I know from experience that this cut will not look falttering on me if worn as is. The dress will overwhelm my slim and petite built. The work-around is to cinch the waist with a belt.
I will use a black or gold belt with thick band to cinch my waist. But ff you´re curvey and you´d want to create a waist with this dress, go for a slim belt.
However, if you prefer to let the print do the talking without worrying about creating shape, and you rather enjoy the comfort of this printed dress`shirt silhouette, then this frock will be perfect.
Daisy Print Angel Sleeve Midi Dress
There are four things that I love about this floral print dress – its angel wings, open back, high front slits, and of course, its gorgeous feminine print.
Needless to say, this dress is made for heels. And its definitely a real summer dress (can´t be transitioned for colder seasons).
But if you do decide to wear it casually, opt for white trainers or flats.
Bold Floral Wrap Dress
This floral print has a body and edgy elements to it. I actually think it´s more suited for winter than summer, or for night than day. It´s probably the black in the print that makes me think this way.
Nonetheless, this is a real stunner. With its bold look and wrap dress style, it´s both stylish and flattering to most body types.
That said, I will have to pass on this dress because the colors won´t flatter my winter complexion.
But anyone who has a fair skin will most likely look great in this floral print dress.
What do you think of these floral dresses and skirts? They´re trending and quickly flying off the rack. Do you think they´re worth the hype?
