Yesterday my mother-in-law and I went to a specialist doctor to have my sinusitis and her allergy checked. Afterwards, we explored the city together as a rare bonding experience. It couldn´t be denied, winter has already come to our side of the world, it´s already gloomy and cold. But in spite of, I´m still glad that it isn´t rainy. I hate it when the weather is cold, the sky is dark, and the roads are wet.
Although a thick leather moto jacket and a knitted cowl neck scarf teamed with jeans and knee high boots were enough for my yesterday´s escapade with my MIL, I know that soon I will have to keep myself warm (to lessen sinus attacks) in some thicker, cozier, and of course, fashion-forward winter outfits.
Please note, this post is inspired by Topshop´s seasonal offer – 30% OFF Jackets, Knitwears, Shoes and Dresses until November 1.
1. Sheepskin Shearling Car Coat
Get the Look: Coat, Dress, Scarf, Boots
If winter in your area is really freezing, then you must be looking for a really warm, cozy coat. When it comes to heating, I´m sure nothing beats the ability of a sheepskin coat.
And because they always come in tan colors, they can be worn with literally anything, well, except ugg boots. If you´re already donning a sheepskin topper, there´s no need to match it with sheep skin shoes, unless otherwise you´re heading to the far North, say in Ice Land?
You can team this coat with black thigh high boots. But if you rather keep it tonal, go for brown leather tall boots.
2. Colored Gilet + Snake Print Knee High Boots
Get the Look: Gilet, Skirt, Turtleneck, Boots, Bag
Three winters here in Germany and I learned to expect some surprises in this season. For example, in winter 2012, we had some warm days in the beginning only to be hammered with heavy snow in its last two months. Then in winter 2013, it was relatively cold but we hardly had snow.
I learned that I should prepare some warm enough but not too warm winter outfits for those surprising days such as a layering of a Gilet or a fur vest on top of a dark pullover. I also got smitten by these python print knee high boots, they look great with black and some splashes of bright colors, so I picked them to complete the look.
3. Neutral Mix Pea Coat and Oversized Jumper
Get the Look: Pea Coat, Jumper, Boots, Handbag
In as much as I love bright colors, there are days (such as yesterday’s outfits) when I actually feel great in an all neutral mix – gray, black and brown. You know you can never go wrong in them. And you know that there are days when you don´t want to stand out, you just want to enjoy the world but if anyone does throw a quick head-to-toe check of your outfit, you still look chic.
Try a gray topper on top a black sweater dress, some brown knee high boots and brown handbag, then finish with a color blocked, black and dark brown knitted cowl neck.
