What I love about wearing long dresses is that transformation that you feel after you slip into it. You are a lady in every way. You automatically walk taller, and your strides are longer and sexier.
When I and my girls friends in Bangkok had to attend a New Year´s party for our school three years ago, the theme was “Hollywood Meets Bollywood”. The concept of the theme was to allow teachers of different nationalities wear a celebrity outfit, be it a replica of an international or a local star. Since about 40% of the staff and teachers were Indians, thus the theme. As you would have guessed, lots of Saris and beautiful Indian outfits shone brightly that night.
I and my girl friends immediately knew who we wanted to be. Joy always adored Angelina Jolie, I always adored J.Lo and Daisy, well, she could be anybody. Joy wanted to recreate Angelina´s character as Olympias in the movie “Alexander”. I wanted to recreate J.Lo´s look when she attended the party of the Senator in the movie “Maid in Manhattan”. You know, that cream, almost nude tube long dress she paired with silver strapped heels accessorized with a very beautiful choker?
So we went to hunt for the dresses, but when we did find the right dresses, things had to change. We found the J.Lo dress in blue shade but it was clearly made for a voluptuous figure. It didn´t look good on me. It did however, complemented Daisy´s figure. So Daisy eventually had to be J.Lo. Since I was assigned to deliver a song in the party, and the song was “My Heart Will Go On”, we decided it´s best that I be Celine Dion. All worked for good. I found a red dress for me.
It definitely was a good night. It was 3 years ago and I still remember it well. I and my girls ended up the stars of the night. My song was well-applauded. I hit the highest notes. We all felt beautiful.
This party was before my blogging days. Four months later, April of 2009, I stumbled upon blogger.com and I put up my first fashion blog.
Now, I´m in Germany and my girl friends are in Bangkok. They were my fashion buddies. Not being able to shop with them is what makes me sad nowadays. To beat it up, I decided to share to you our old photos. 🙂
