I usually have a hard time transitioning from summer to fall because the gloomy sky, rainy days and cold temperature tend to make me feel sad, but I´m glad that there´s one thing that could quickly cheer me up – beautiful coats. I trick myself into focussing on gorgeous layering with sweaters and coats, and well … boots! For fall dressing, I normally pick the coat first and dress it up or down. Now that it`s the start of ber months and fall is very much in full swing, let´s take a look at the styles and types of coats that are trending for fall 2013.

Colored Coat
Via Spiga, Pendleton, Corey Lynn
I don´t know about you but on our side of the world, fall and winter are tantamount to dark gloomy sky. On top of that the surrounding and almost the entire land are turning gray and brown weeks after the leaves sparkled in orange and red. So how do you gorgeously beat the dull sceneries? With bright colored coats. Furtunately, this trend is always coming back so most probably, you already have at least one bright coat. I´ve got a red and a cobalt blue. I might as well have an orange this season. How about you?

Belted Coat
Larry Levine, Via Spiga, London Fog
There´s something really chic with belted coats especially if they come in simple clean lines. I lean on classic trench coats with removable, waist-cinching self-tie belt. You can quickly out them on for walking or running errands. I also like a belted trench coat updated with stunning shawl collars. But if you´re into pushing your fall style up a notch, why not try a belted motorcycle-inspired coat with quilts?

Military Coat
Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Cole Haan
A military coat will always be one of my favorite trends when it comes to outerwear. With the right leather boots, you can create a covetable equestrian look with them. I love the smart effect of those buttons, the collars the bring attention to the face, and the flattering fit that emphasizes your posture. Wear your military coat with a midi pencil skirt or a dark skinny trousers.

Ladylike Coat
Jessica Simpson, Via Spiga, Ted Baker
Feminine, ladylike coats are especially a must when it comes to attending wedding events or formal parties. Look for a single-breasted swing coat in sweet rose shade if you´re thinking of wearing it to parties. But if you want to keep things professional while topping on your femininity, then opt for dark colors. Skater and peplum styles are always girly so make sure to have at least one of this coat trend in your wardrobe to serve as your go-to coverup when the situation demands.
