I spent the Sunday of my last weekend cleaning the entire apartment. It included reorganizing my closet. I was so inspired arranging all the items that the idea of a wardrobe feature came to mind.
A woman´s closet is the fundamental of her looks. The key elements – clarity, order and organization. The way I organize my closet is inspired by Rebecca Moses from her book, A life of Style. She said, “Every gal needs a look. To get a look you need clarity. For clarity you need order.“
How does Rebecca Moses organize her closet? She racks them all. Three racks for her fundamentals, whites, naturals and darks. Then comes the fourth rack – the WOW rack. Its “the rack for the ever-changing, ever evolving mood ring of style.“
In arranging a closet, everything starts from color. Then secondly, purpose.

Today, you will get a glimpse of my wardrobe and the way it is arranged. Let me warn you though. While I love shoes, clothes and accessories, I don´t have plenty of them. My closet is very young and humble, only two months old and it consists of the functional and most adored pieces that survived my Bangkok closet. When I left Bangkok, Thailand, for Germany a little more than 2 months ago, I had to carefully choose what I needed and adored the most. I had to leave behind the rest – clothes, several shoes and boots, hats and even many books. Afterall, you can´t just move a whole wardrobe across the globe.
This is the closet that I am starting to love now. A huge black framed furniture with three sliding mirror doors. My husband´s closet is on the left, which you can see in the mirror, of wood color.

The Wow! Closet

This is how my WOW! closet looks, the place for my colorful dresses, evening dresses, summer dresses, floral skirts, animal prints, and flirty vests. It also includes bags, in different colors, forms and materials. Ideally, the bags should be categorized – office bags, summer bags, evening formal bags, comfy oversized bags, etc. However, for practicality and space saving, I simply arranged them according to size and functionality. Also in this wow! closet are my leather boots.

The Basics Closet

In this closet goes all the basics – blacks, browns, whites and nudes. These items are the ones that can easily blend with colors and can be quickly spiced up with prints. They are the leather jackets, little black dresses, blazers, black formal dresses, basic sweater dresses, black skirts, and classic button down shirts. The upper parts of this closet are used for the jeans, trousers, sweat pants, tights and leggings, and shorts. On its floor are some of my shoes.
The Cozy Closet

Its door is what I slide off if I need to feel cozy, in any season. Here goes the coats, denim and coldoroy jackets, and sweaters. These items are meant to make me warm during cold seasons. On the upper part are my carefully folded summer tops and tanks. They´re not going to be touched for a while.
On its floor you´ll see two pairs of sports shoes. Yes, they´re the only sporty shoes I´ve got right now. Some rubber shoes were left in Bangkok too. When I was younger, I had tons of them. But when my style matured, I only wear tennis shoes when I´m off to gym. Who really needs lots?
The Glamor Closet

If I have more space in my closet this is how a glamor side would look. All scarves hanged beautifully, very accessible when choosing for the perfect accent. The hats will be there. And the belts too.

Speaking of belts. I had put them all crowded in a drawer for a while and when I had a look, they´re starting to get deformed. I realized how I badly need a belt and accessory hanger. And yet, before I could order it online I have to make-do. I took a short rope thick enough to handle all my belts´weight. After I slid the rope through the belts´ buckles, I hanged it in the closet along with the hangers.
The Drawers

Drawers are the best place to keep the tiny stuff – gloves, socks, undies, and even small scarves. They make things easy to locate. I allot one drawer for the brassieres. As you must know, bras should be able to breadth naturally, the cups must maintain their shape and not deformed.

This is how I order my things. I arrange them according to color and purpose. Organizing a closet this way makes things clear and accessible. You can quickly grab an LBD from the Basics Closet and navigate to the Wow side or the glamor side and quickly dress up your LBD according to your mood.
You don´t need to have a closet cluttered with stuff. You don´t need a closet overwhelmed with clothes in order to get a great look either. All you need is a wardrobe with the most comfortable and versatile items. You need the most confidence pieces and arrange them in order. Then you have a playground! A meticulous, organized playground.
So tell me Creative Fashionistas, how do you organize your closet? Is it a playground?
really need to do this too ♥

This is a great idea for closet organization! I totally understand about moving – even just going temporarily to Italy, I had to carefully choose what I wanted to keep and what to leave behind. I’m grateful for that though, because I have really cut out a bunch of items I really never wore!

I think your wardrobe is really impressive!! 😀 My style has changed *a lot* over the past couple of years, so I’ve ditched a lot of stuff; now my boyfriend’s wardrobe is much larger than mine! XD I hope mine can be as large as yours some day! 😀
My items are organized by color, and then sleeve length. 🙂 My dresses are hung up separately, also by color and sleeve length. I have a very brightly-colored wardrobe, so it makes me happy to see a rainbow in my closet. XD
