If I were to choose a piece of jewelry, it will be something that speaks of my personality. I would go for what inspires me to be better, or something that has meaning to me. It will also serve as a window to the things I love in life.
More than just for beauty + glamour, or to keep up with the trend, or to mimic what today´s hottest celebrities are wearing, or to show the world how much money I got, my jewelry will be meticulously chosen. Price isn´t the first identifier. It has to be very special for me to have it.
It would be hard to look for a piece that truly communicates my need if I were to shop in stores/malls featuring pieces that are mass produced. Thus I keep an eye on boutiques which feature handcrafted (or personally picked by the store owner) jewelry pieces that aren´t available just anywhere. For example, I recently stumbled on some beautiful handmade artisan jewelry made lovingly by Jes Maharry. I picked three. See below.
Mosaic Ring
If my pocket could afford it, this ring would speak of my love of art. I love beautiful, bright colored paintings with mesmerizing details. This Mosaic is pure art.
Merry Go Round Earrings
I have a huge love for stunning chandelier. Now isn´t this pair of dangling earrings a chandelier? I like that it´s a mix of soft hues. Beautiful stones with a touch of colors but not overpowering. I find that soft hues are easier to mix and match with colored clothes.
Wise Owl Necklace
People close to me know that I´m a collector of owl. I simply love many pieces featuring owl. Owl is a symbol of intellect, I was told. I have a growing collection of it – from porcelains, figurines, window accents, collector’s stuff animals, to bracelets – mostly gifts from my husband and friends. I wouldn´t mind receiving this Wise Owl as a birthday gift either. 😉
That said, I´d like to disclose that I don´t wear jewelry due to religious reasons. But I do collect a few very special jewelry that are meaningful to me. Instead of wearing them as an accent to my outfits, I collect them to admire.
How about you? Where do you shop for jewelry? Do you use it to communicate your personality or do you prefer to go with the trend?
