Have you found yourself standing in front of a wardrobe loaded with clothes asking, “What shall I wear?” If you had, you´re not alone. Lots of girls share this plight; at times, even me.
Not knowing what to wear can be attributed to either poor closet organization or lack of shopping planning, e.g. “will this skirt go with at least three items that are already in my closet?” Or probably, it´s simply because you want to challenge your style and creativity.
One fashionista, Fabrizia Spinelli, caught herself asking this question for how many times, urging her to find solutions and share them at her blog Cosa mi metto???.
Hello F! Tell us a little about you and your blog.
I’m an almost 25 years old girl, I lived in Rome, a city that I will always carry in my hearth; two years ago I met Luca, we fall in love and after the wedding I came to live in Naples with him. I start my blog 4 months ago, because I liked the idea of sharing my outfit and my photos with people from all over the world that have my same passion for fashion. And I love to confront my ideas with different styles and cultures.
You´re a fashion columnist in the newspaper Il Roma published in Naples. Is it a full-time job? Tell us more about your fashion writing career.
For the moment it is a starting point, because I’m not yet a journalist, I’ve to publish so many articles before I can become part of the journalist enrollment. I love to write and I’m thinking about a surprise in this subject.
What inspired you to start a fashion blog?
My daily routine: day after day I found myself looking for an answer to the fateful question, “what shall I wear?”(that’s what “cosa mi metto?” means).. And so I decided to collect all my “answers” in a blog, just for fun!
Do you have any plans for the growth of your blog?
Yes, I’m always thinking about new ideas and new project, but I prefer to surprise my followers and my readers after the facts!
What´s your signature style?
I don’t think I have a particular signature style. Perhaps my signature style is just my personality, the common factor of every look of mine.
What is your best-kept personal style secret?
I think that simplicity is the best key to create a good outfit, if you overact, or if you try to combine many strange or particular pieces the result could be excessive and not of good taste.
What are the five fashion essentials every well-dressed woman must have?
I think that the five things that can not be missed in a well-dressed woman´s wardrobe are:
1) a great pair of jeans, because you can easily combine them with every kind of look, for many different occasions;
2) a great and elegant pair of high shoes, because nothing soars woman’s legs better than a high heels.
3) An oversize clutch, because you can wear it in the night and even in the daytime, and a good one often is the key accessory of a wonderful look;
4) A little black dress, fitting well with you body, for chic occasions;
5) A fascinating pair of oversized sunnies, that can give you a pretty cool charm even if paired with a simple outfit.
Do you have a celebrity style idol? Who and why?
The it-girl Miroslava Duma is in my opinion one of the best dressed women of the moment, she’s smart, elegant and always original in every look.
Which three shops do you love (the most) to shop?
In the low-cost category I prefer H&M, because it has so varied products and you can always find there everything you’re looking for. Zara, because it offers really good quality products for a competitive price. Then I love Danielle, a group of shoes’shops in Rome, where you can find every brand and every kind of shoes, heels, sandals, pumps, ballerinas, boots you desire.
By the way..if I ever had unlimited money to spend, I would shop every day at Chanel and Hermes!
Enough talk! Show us some of the best outfits you´ve worn and the idea behind them.
Outfit #1
In this first outfit all the attention is concentrated on the dress, so I’ve embellished it with little and discrete jewelry, and I think the final result is pretty chic.
Outfit #2
This look was very simple so to liven it up I decided to combine different tones of the same group of colors and to make contrast between the little pair of white shorts and the high-colored wedges.
Outfit #3
The strength of this look is given by the rules of the color blocking.
Outfit #4
With this mise, a smart and simple dress from Mango, I wanted to be really elegant so I decided to give it a chic touch by wearing pearls (both earrings and necklace). I added a little bit of femininity with a red lipstick.
Outfit #5
This sailorette look is created by wearing the classic striped t-shirt and by adding only blue and white items. Also, in this simple look I chose to give a little bit of color with a strong lipstick and a bright nail polish.
Outfit #6
This little black dress, the braid and the silver jewelry was giving me a too serious appearance so I’ve defused them with this original, super high pair of orange heels.
And finally, if you could whisper a fail-safe style tip to every woman´s ears, what would it be?
Wear everything you want, as long as you feel comfortable with your clothes, a woman at ease is always more radiant than a woman who feels uncomfortable.
Have a great weekend, Fabrizia! Thank you so much for your helpful tips.
