While still working as a teacher at an international school in Bangkok, it´s decided that the theme for our 2011 Year End Celebration was “Hollywood Meets Bollywood”. It was the first time I got to wear a beautiful long evening dress. I was dubbed the lady in red because of the striking red A-line chiffon gown that I chose.
It was also during this time when I realized that while short cocktail dresses are modern, long evening dresses are more capable of bringing out the most ladylike person in you. There´s a good reason why celebrities opt more for designer evening dresses that kiss the floor than the short dresses that show the legs. Long dresses allow you to act the most elegant performance with style.
When it comes to evening dresses, I love Badgley Mischka´s creations. This red-carpet-destined evening wear is generally made out of lighter fabrics and with less construction. You don´t feel constricted while wearing them, they´re flowy enough to allow free movement.
I once wore a beaded designer gown that was too heavy that I didn´t get to enjoy the party, I had to sit all the time. From then on I became very particular with the fabric and material while shopping for an evening frock.
Badgley Mischka´s evening dresses aren´t only meant for red carpet parties, they´re also versatile enough to make for a wedding dress, a mother of the bride dress, or a wedding guest dress. They have this understated elegance that works well for both formal gatherings and casual, less formal wedding parties.
If you´re avoiding overly embellished dresses for this season´s holiday parties, and if you´re into unique styles with attention to fabric detail, cute cascading layers, flattering sweetheart neckline and back view, you know where to look for.
