If you´re planning your next international flight to Europe or anywhere in the world, the following tips on what to wear to long flights will help you have an enjoyable flight and less stressful vacation.
I once made a wrong decision to wear ultra-fitting (not very stretchable) cropped pants with leather high heels to a five-hour-flight and since then, I swore to never repeat it again. It was so tiring and uncomfortable.
Not only are too tights and unstretchy pants too tiring for the legs, the closed leather high heels were also unforgiving to the feet. It didn´t help that the flight was at night and my body just wanted to sleep. And then add to the the hauling and dragging of a heavy suitcase through long corriders. It was unforgiving!
The almost unbearable discomfort that I suffered ruined what supposedly a great experience. Since then, I´ve been in the look out for travel outfits that are both chic and comfortable that will make me enjoy the experience.

Anne Hathaway has shown us how to travel in style—a pair of blue denim, a nude trench coat over a sweater, a red long scarf, and some wedge sneakers comprised the travel outfit that she was onced photographed at an airport.
Wedge sneakers are definitely comfortable and since you wear them with socks, you can easily take them off during the flight without your feet feeling cold. Wedge sneakers are also a hot trend so it makes the entire outfit very of-the-moment and youthful.
What to Wear to Long Flights: Travel Chic and Comfy
Cardigan / Jeggings / Bag / Riding boots
Diana Agron did a layering of comfortable but chic pieces. A fly-away wrap cardigan worn over a tee, layered over with a thick print scarf, some jeggings and riding boots was the entirely of her outfit when she photographed at an airport.
Layering of all the soft, non-ironed pieces at the top makes the look effortless while keeping her comfyortable throughout the entire flight. Jeggings or tights are great for a really long travel because they stretch.
Notice how her boots are actually wide around the calf which allow the legs to move comfortably. It´s also easy for her feet to slip in and out boots. Avoid fitted long boots because they are uncomfortable for long international flights.
Put-Together Travel Outfit
Blazer / Shirt / Sunglasses / Bag / Belt / Jeans / Shoe
Lauren Conrad is known for putting together elegant looks and that applies even for her airport outfits. She has been photographed at airports wearing polished casual-smart ensembles.
Stretch jeans are great for travel specially if it´s cold. Team them up with a shirt and a wool blazer for enough warmth. You can finish the look with some nude flats, which are perfect for comfort, or opt instead for a more trendy pair such as studded smoking slippers.
Sprinkle some interesting details to the look with a leopard slim belt or a leopard leather satchel.

Travel Casually Yet Edgy
Sweater / Shorts / Top / Bag / Boots
Ashley Greene created a very comfortable yet edgy outfit for the airport. A nude, oversized knitted sweater worn with soft floral printed shorts and toughened up with edgy laced-up black boots. To mimic the look, you can either play up with neutrals or you can go for a more bright look such as this fashion board above. A bright two-toned sweater to team up with a complementary shorts, and of course, the boots.
What to Wear to Long Flights: Loafers with Jumpsuit
Jumpsuit is a very trendy piece to wear for travel. Pair it with a sophisticated suede loafer to give your feet comfort while still looking classy. Add a black leather jacket to keep you warm at the airport and on board. You can easily remove it upon landing and you´d be ready for a warm summer weather. Because the jumpsuit is loose on the body with roomy legs, you´d feel comfortable curling to sleep throughout your flight.
Loafers with Romper
This is a travel outfit that I would personally love to wear. I enjoy wearing comfy shorts and rompers to a flight. I usually carry a large scarf in my bag to cover my legs whenever I feel cold from the AC. Go for a sophisticated romper with gathered elastic waistband for ultimate comfort. Then add a glossy, nature-inspired pointed-toe flats.
What to Wear to Long Flights: D’Orsay Flats with Comfy Dress
Never rule out a comfy dress for travel outfits. I picked this drop waist dress with volume silhouette just because I love showing some legs, but you can also go for a maxi dress. I find this D’Orsay smoking slipper really cute.
As described, it has a chic look that’s both on-trend and timelessly sophisticated. You can wear it with anything throughout your travel, thus making travelling light for you. Pack a cardigan in your hand carry bag so you can quickly wrap yourself whenever you feel cold during the flight
Beating a long international flight doesn´t have have to be tough. Create an outfit that´s both comfy and chic so your flight will be a wonderful experience instead of a stressful, tiring task.
3. What to wear on a long flight to Europe
The Comfy Flat Riding Boots
Riding boots are on the top of my list when it comes to what to wear on long flights because aside from saving a huge chunk of space in your luggage by wearing them instead of carrying them, they´re also super easy to dress up and down.
They´re stylish and allow you to easily create different layering with them depending on the weather. Because they require a lot of space if packed, I recommend wearing them on your flight to Europe. Team them up with tights, off-shoulder top, and some socks. While on the plane, you simply have to remove the boots, keep the socks, and you´re comfortable the entire flight.
For getting around Europe, wear your riding boots with tights or skinny jeans when it´s chilly. But for days when the sun is quite friendly, wear the boots with a sweater dress or shorts, you bare a little skin but most of your legs are still covered, and you´d look gorgeous.
What to Wear to Long Flights: A Comfortable Long Jacket that Blends with Everything
Jacket / Pants / Bag / Sneakers
In Europe, at least if you´re traveling to Northern or Weatern Europe, the weather can be unpredictable. You´ll really not gonna know when exactly the wind will turn suddenly cold. Thus, it´s important that you take with you a reliable coat, preferably a trench coat.
Because your tights, skinnies and boots are already in dark shades, it might be nice to bring a colored trench. But if you want a versatile coat that can be worn with anything, then opt for a nude trench coat.

4. What to Wear to Long Flights: How to Travel Light Yet Fashionable in Europe in Fall?
How do I travel light and at the same time fashionable with my outfits when I go for a vacation in Europe (Italy, Paris, and London) this fall? Should I wear ankle boots all the time just for sight-seeing? ~ Cecile
Hi Cecile! It´s been three weeks now since we officially welcomed fall and so far, while the temperature sometimes drop between 15-18 degree celsius when it´s raining, we´re often enjoying a higher temperature such as 18 degrees. I highly recommend you search for the possible temperature and weather of the specific areas you´re visiting.
I´m with you when it comes to traveling light. It´s stressful and tiring shouldering heavy luggage around on your tour. But in order to still look good and fashionable with only a few pieces, here´s a list of what you should pack up, what you should wear for sight-seeing and why.
1. What to Wear to Long Flights and what to pack: A riding boot
Riding boots are first on my list for fall because they´re so easy to dress up and down. They´re stylish and you can easily do layering with them depending on the weather.
2. What to wear on a long flight to Europe and what to pack: Flat ankle boots
If riding boots aren´t your thing, then flat ankle boots are a great alternative. They´d work well with tights and skinnies too. It´s just that, I´m a big fan of riding boots.
3. What to wear on a long flight to Europe and what to pack: Flexible tights leggings
Leggings are great for travel because they´re stretchable and flexible. They can be worn with almost anything, easy to pack, light, and require very less space. I suggest you bring two to three pairs of dark-colored leggings for the trip. You can repeat wearing them and nobody would notice.
4. What to wear on a long flight to Europe and what to pack: A pair of skinnies
Skinnies are your best jeans to wear with riding boots or ankle boots. If it´s warm enough to opt for casual flat shoes, skinnies would still look good.
5. A great sweater
Because most days the wind will be a little chilly, it´s wise to pack up a gorgeous sweater. Whether it´s a black tee or a printed top you´re wearing under it, a printed sweater is always an interesting coverup.
When it comes to choosing a great sweater for travelling, I lean more towards a cute cardigan. I find a cardigan more versatile. You can carry it around in your bag during the day and then put it on in the evening when it starts to cool. You can also wrap it around your neck like a scarf. Really, it´s both decorative and protective.
6. What to Wear to Long Flights: A reliable coat
Given that it´s leap year, so they say, you really don´t know when the wind will suddenly turn very cold. It´s important that you bring a reliable coat, preferably a trench coat. Because your tights, skinnies and boots are already in dark shades, it might be nice to bring a colored trench.
7. What to wear on a long flight to Europe and what to pack: A comfy jumper
Needless to say, a printed jumper or a bright/neutral colored pullover is a need this fall. Make sure to have enough for your trip. You must be able to tell how many times you´d repeat wearing each, after all, you´re not gonna sweat much in fall, would you?
9. What to Wear to Long Flights: A scarf
Don´t forget to pack at least one or two scarves. A scarf isn´t only a quick way to amp up your look, it also serves to keep you warm and to protect you from unwanted flu. Choose your scarf wisely.
10. What to wear on a long flight to Europe and what to pack: The trendy smoking slipper
This is not a must but only in case you still have some space in your luggage bag. Sometimes you don´t feel like wearing boots, especially if the weather report says tomorrow will be a good weather, and you just want to slip your feet into comfy but trendy shoes such as smoking slippers. Having a pair of flats to swap your boots with can be really exhilarating. It´s like that little luxury that can make your day.
And guess what? I wore smoking slippers my entire visit in Paris last year.
So if you´re planning your next international flight, remember tThese tips on what to wear to long flights and what to pack to help you have an enjoyable and less stressful long flight and vacation.
These are really cute travel outfits. I would wear each and every one of them. Especially the second one because it looks so cozy and I always opt for comfort over style when I’m traveling. I hate being uncomfortable on a plane just because I want to look cute. You prove you can do both!
