Now that it´s officially Fall, we´re in need of closet update. We segregate our dresses, checking which ones are very summer, which are transitional or bi-season. And then we´re faced with another challenge, adding Fall dresses to our wardrobe especially for work outfits.
Some creative fashionistas are on the hunt for dresses that will make them fashionable at work this season, for less. Being fashionable at work doesn´t mean sacrificing professionalism nor it mean blowing money. I´ve found five beautiful fall dresses under $50 that are very work-friendly. Below are the looks I´ve put together as inspiration on how to style them for work.
Table of Contents
1. Dotty and Gorgeous
Dress $39.95 (Sold Out), Scarf $3.99
The Fall 2011 Trend Report says that high-end designers “suddenly felt dotty on the runway”. You´ll see fabulous polka dots from several designers´Fall collection paraded by super models. Why not get inspired and wear dots at work too? This Polka-Dot Sweater Dress can be quickly worn to work by pairing it with black pointed heels. Add more sophistication by accessorizing it with a small black scarf, silver wrist watch and red handbag.
2. Confident in Red
Red Dress $48.99 (Sold Out)
Did you know that this season designers have played with bright colors more than ever before? Colors got bolder. Why don´t you? Wear a red dress to work and showcase your confidence. Complete the look with black strapped pumps, white working bag, rectangular black cocktail ring and light red lipstick. Your outfit speaks volume when it comes to being competitive.
3. Elegant and Sexy
Orange Dress (Sold Out)
Orange is always trendy. It´s even trendier if it´s a great dress. But you´re off to work so you want to subdue the trend through a tailored black blazer. Grab your dark brown working bag, slip into snake-printed pumps, slide a twist band through your finger, and you´re very ready to conquer a demanding work place.
4. Professional Black and White
Career Woman Dress $39.99
Sometimes, a dress just speaks for itself, and this fitted career woman cocktail high waist pencil dress is one. This vintage inspired is great for business meetings and gatherings, and while it speaks power, it also makes you the eye-catching center of attention. You can wear it as is. You can also pop over a blazer if you feel chilly in the evening or if you want an even more powerful look . Black working bag, black pump and pearl tripple strand bracelet are your perfect accessories.
5. Delicate and Stylish
Dress Pastis $43.99 Sold Out
This dress in neutral shade with slim belt is a delicate looking yet stylish piece you can wear to work. You can layer over it a V-neck long cardigan to protect you from the chill while remaining fashionable. Nude pumps are best to complete this dress. Diaper working bag and cheeky skull scarf are your quick spice-me-up accessories. I love this mix of pallette, serene and very earthy hues.
So tell me Creative Fashionistas, are you ready to add some gorgeous and very affordable fall dress for work?
#1 and #5 are my favorites! 😀 I love super-girly looks.
I’m not very good at coordinating professional-looking, grown-up outfits, and I don’t currently have the wardrobe for it, so I really like this post.
Hi Alyssa, I´m glad you found this post helpful. I attribute my eye for professional outfits to my 8 years of working as a teacher. I found that if I wear stylish yet powerful look to an interview, I´ve a bigger chance of nailing the job. 🙂
That’s the word — powerful. 😀 I don’t really look powerful for job-related things; that’s my problem. :O
